Travel Through Tlayrc Vara

Population Migration / Travel

The League decides on a shortcut through the woods to expedite their journey to Electin. What they find will baffle them.

The League regroups in the midst of a goblinoid attack from the shadows. Beset on all sides by arrows in the dark and flying illuminated Bugbears, they manage to survive the encounter and interrogate a lone survivor. After some hasty decisions, they decide it would be best to move down the road and keep a weather eye out for the rest of the army. A successful spotting across the plain reveals the army far away, leaving the group to take the rest of their night to recover.   The next couple days blend together as they travel uneventfully down the road and eventually reach a point where it bends away from a distant forest. Encouraged by their guide/impetus Enoona, they decide to pursue a shortcut through the forest. The forest, known to the locals as Tlayrc Vara, is dense and seemingly full of secrets, but with Enoona's help they navigate to a safe camp and set up for the night.   That night, under Vik's watchful eye, a great tremor is felt in the forest, a wave of disturbance that passes through every animal in the way. While it settles soon afterward, Vik is wary and awakens Enoona and Akta to go investigate. After a brief foray into the dark woods, it is reported that no sign can be seen of the disturbance, the source probably being several miles away.   The rest of the night passes without issue until Doc, now taking watch for the group discovers a mysterious arrow, composed of luminescent flowers, pointing in the direction of their intended destination. After some investigation, Doc determines this is a good path, probably the best path through the woods, and informs the party the next morning. They follow the markers he made for a time, but soon are finding their own way again, slow as it is through the brush and bramble of the dark forest.   The next night, when discussing the strange phenomenon, the group decides to travel for the day, and follow the glow through the night, at risk of their health, but in hopes of leaving the forest sooner. They do so, and when they finally stop to rest, they are worn and footsore, but significantly further through the forest than before. As Akta settles in to take watch, she notices some movement in the shadows nearby, causing her alarm. However, when she goes to investigate she discovers a gentle giant, one of the Firbolg , who has apparently be laying this trail for them, and watching their progress through the forest.   The Firbolg, a Watcher by the name of Sildo, informs them (reluctantly) of a major corruption in the forest and that he is trying to get them away from it to avoid involving them in the conflict. Unable to turn away in the face of a suffering people, Akta requests they be allowed to aid the druidic race. After much convincing, and the rest of the party claiming similar interest in helping, Sildo aquieces and says they must speak to the Elders first.   Placing his hand against a tree, he opens a portal to the village and they pile through, eagre for a new adventure.
