Personal history
Early Life
Virtue, or as he was born, Hyun-Woo, was born alongside his twin sister Hwa-Yeong, later taking the name Vice. Born to a Fiendborne mother and an Elven father, most children would come out looking like one or the other, but the twins had the rare result of combining traits from both of their parents. While Hyun-Woo had the dark brown skin of his father, he had the sharp teeth and pure gold eyes of his mother. Hwa-Yeong, meanwhile, inherited her mothers violet skin and raven hair, she had gained her fathers amber pupils and blunted teeth. While the parents were more than gleeful at their healthy children, the people around them did not feel the same, as not only were twins of opposite genders seen as an ill portent, the fact that they both had mixed "devilish" features inspired more ire towards the newborns and the parents that bore them, not to mention the social othering that came from being proudly Dalsup. Unfortunatley, that ire, superstition, and prejudice would only grow when the Kim family home was caught in a sudden blaze, with the children escaping while the parents sadly died inside. Following this incident, Kenzou Shinoda, a retired general and friend of the family, took in the twins. While he did his best to raise the pair with love, care, and appreciation for their culture even if he wasn't a member of it, he could only do so much as the other villagers disdain and hatred of the twins grew.Becoming Virtue
From a young age, Hyun-Woo could tell that he wasn't treated fairly, and did his best to try and prove others wrong. He would try his hardest in schooling, help out anyone who asked for it, learned to repair things such as furniture and cutlery, and did it all with enthusiasm and smiles without asking for a single coin. But, no amount of do-gooding can beat the waves of prejudice, no matter how hard he tried. While Hyun-Woo always kept up the faith, it was shattered one day. At his wits end thinking of ways to gain acceptance, he heard of a Heigai, a monster made of negative magical energy (Also known as a Busig to the Dalsup) that was rotting the crops nearby, and determined himself to slay the monster. Hwa-Yeong had been learning about magic and exorcisms, and Kenzou had many weapons in his care, so the young man felt he was well armed enough. While he was barely older than 14 at the time, he would prove himself to be quite right. The Heigai in the shape of a demonic boar fought ferociously, but Virtue had within him strength unparalleled by his peers as well as divine power granted from nature spirits in the area. As a pure, caring, and respectful young man, they always surrounded him and gave him their blessing. But, even though he slayed the Heigai, and managed to completely exorcise it (even if it took a while because he forgot the exact process a couple times), he was not seen favorably. In fact, his unnatural strength and formerly unseen magical blessings were both seen as monstrous and demonic powers. It was only by Kenzou's influence over the people that prevented them from banishing or executing him. The young boy was distraught, losing his smile in a fortnight of malaise. Kenzou had always encouraged him to do what made himself happy, despite knowing how people would react, but at this juncture he had to tell Hyun-Woo the truth."My golden light, who I love as if you were my own, you will never find their live here. Their minds are poisoned by fear and their hearts by prejudice. You could tear out your own heart for their sake, and they will spit on you as if you had handed them a rotten fruit. The fact that you care for them, protect them, aid them in spite of this is your greatest virtue, but you must not let it kill you."While the father feared it would dampen Hyun-Woo's spirits, he was surprised to find him the next day, smiling and radiant as ever, requesting Kenzou to train him in proper fighting techniques, because he had a plan.
"Venerated Father, I understand that you've told me the truth, as painful as it was to hear. I can no longer count on the people here to overcome themselves...BUT! If honor and proper thought cannot be found here, than I shall bring it here! I shall become a hero, greater and more valiant than any other, and when I return with the karma of a savior and stories to tell, the people shall have no other option than to regale me with pride! No matter one's lineage, culture, or parentage, they can be a hero, be deserving of respect! I shall leave them with no option than to honor that very ideal!"While Kenzou was not certain of this plans success, he figured that finding victory elsewhere would be best for Hyun-Woo, and so began to train him in the Kaguyan Star Style, a fighting technique that could be used lethally or non-lethally and would harness the divine magic he had access to. After 10 years, the young boy became a young man, and reached the peak in what he could learn on his own. As he set off, he decided to take a new name abroad, and thusly Hyun-Woo would become known as Virtue, and begin his travels to Magnum Opus to find The Scattered Petals at the behest of his father. Now, his story is set to continue as his feet land in the busy city of Wind.
Special Abilities
Virtue has always had a knack for using divine energy, even as a child. While technically anyone can take advantage of it in small ways via prayer and offerings, to wield it like magic, especially for personal enhancement, takes skill, training, or talent. Technically, Virtue's might be seen as falling into the 'training' category, as from a young age he was dutiful and enthusiastic about his prayers and respect for nature, natural spirits, the Dalsup Gods, and most importantly various inanimate objects, as wastefulness is frowned upon by the faith. His fervor and pure-minded passion for these aspects might be the reason for the ease at which he commands and wields divine energy. This might also be why he is immensely popular with dokkaebi, common spirits of nature that inhabit loved and cherished items. Virtue's fascination, appreciation, and skill with repairing and refurbishing various items gained him much favor with the dokkaebi, paired with his constant anthropomorphization of the items he works with and cherishes. Sadly, as he's left the land of the Kaguyan Federation the spirits are attatched to, they cannot join him on his journey. While not an ability unique to him, Virtue has mastered the Kaguyan Star Style, a method of fighting developed within the official Kaguyan military that is focused on the manipulation of momentum. It's equally a defensive and offensive art, reactive and proactive, and is better used with blunt weapons instead of sharp weapons, which Kenzou Shinoda thought fit Virtue perfectly. The fact he can use his natural skills at divine energy manipulation to increase the strength, speed, and force of his strikes only makes it even better.Sexuality
Virtue is bisexual and has had a handful of dates across the gender binary. While he's been too devoted to his training and broader goals to commit to a larger relationship, he's had the amount of experience one could expect a very kind and handsome young man might have.
Education
Virtue attended his local villages public school from the ages of 6 to 16, and consistently got good grades! While he struggled with advanced math and some aspects of history classes, he was in the top 5 of his graduating class, with his sister Vice taken the first place spot.
Accomplishments & Achievements
- Fended off a rampaging Heigai on his own at the age of 14
- Finished basic education in the top portion of his class
- Repaired and rejuvinated more than 50 pieces of furniture
- Aided his sister in dozens of exorcisms and rituals
- Has successfully joined The Scattered Petals
Mental Trauma
While Virtue is not afraid of fire, it is something that unsettles and unnerves him, as he can never truly shake off the heat, panic, and loss that came from his parents death in their home burning down.
He's also likely to be shooken up if/when called a demon or monster of any variety, as he can not stop himself from recieving a freeze response when the age-old judgement comes knocking.
Intellectual Characteristics
Virtue is a very earnest and straight-forward person, so while he is knowledgeable, mature, and has a keen common sense, he's not always the most depth-diving of thinkers. This also comes from a desire to not make things more complicated than they have to be.
Virtue also has a keen sense for emotions and reading people, forged in a village that would often mask their faces and words far too much.

Morality & Philosophy
Virtue is a very moral person. While he isn't judgemental he is very strict on his own standards and the lengths to which he'll go to defend the innocent and their honor. He despises violent criminals, such as serial killers, abusers, or slavers, but he does give some leeway to petty criminals such as thieves, as there can be various circumstances that lead one there.
Behavioral Quirks
Virtue moves and speaks in a very practiced manner, making sure his every action is controlled, precise, and most of all: polite. He would hate to offend, inconvinence, or bother anybody. Vocally, this fades when speaking his name Maesori, as he speaks very calmly and casually, but his physical behavior tends to remain the same. When Virtue becomes excited, his pure gold eyes gain black star-shaped pupils that seem to come out of nowhere. This too seems to be an effect of his mixed Elven and Fiendborne heritage, as the effect is caused by a similar process as dialation, which many Elves evolved to have in extreme ways.Social
Religious Views
Virtue is a casually and personally faithful sort. While he dutifully follows the path to honoring and respecting nature and the world outside as the Dalsup corner of Kaguyan faith dictates, he does it more out of habit and personal routine than an intentionally devout action.
Personal Motivation
Virtue's greatest desire is to save lives and protect the innocent no matter where he goes. While a part of him wants to prove the people of his hometown wrong about himself and his sister, even if he never gains an ounce of his favor he will be happy to save who he can. Even his desire to gain the villagers favor isn't done out of personal desire. He merely wishes for his sister to be happier, and for other Dalsup and odd children like himself to be loved and protected, where he was only lucky to have fortunate circumstances and protectors.Social Aptitude
Virtue has charisma and kindness for days, even if he's a bit oblivious to it. Despite many looking at him disfavorably in town, there's many peers he's accidentally flirted to near exhaustion (and a few he's done on purpose), and without any baggage he's seen as a very charming and kind young man.
While he can be a bit too straightforward, not understanding different ulterior motives or subterfuge, he isn't ignorant or dim. There's an degree to which he literally can't conceptualize why someone wouldn't just come out with what they were thinking or feeling, and the rest is filled by just spite at people who play these songs-and-dances.
