Half-Elf

Half-Elves are children born of mixed Elven Heritage. Typically, Elven genes are Dominant compared to others, so if there's a trace of Elven blood in a partner, more often than not that child will be pure elf. However, when Elves have a child with Humans, Halflings, Orcs, or Gnomes, the genomes make for a pretty even split.

Naming Traditions

Family names

There aren't any specific Half-Elven naming cultures, as it typically comes from where they are born, but typically in relationships the Elven parent will give them an Elven name alongside their traditional given name for posterity.

Culture

Culture and cultural heritage

Half-Elves typically have an interesting relationship with their culture, as Elven culture in places can be rather Xenophobic, and therefore refuse to associate with a Half-Elf due to the 'Half' portion. But for the most part they are generally accepting, if not approving of specific relationships. Half-Elves typically enjoy the artistic side of their culture, as the Elven eyes for detail make them more sensitive to the minute traits that make it up, but have less time than their long-lived predecessors to truly develop the same level of mastery.

Ideals

Beauty Ideals

Elven culture prides lithe and slender figures with sharp features, however with Half children that line gets muddled. Typically, outstanding features on attractive Half-Elves will be smoother skin, and silky hair, although any other features would depend on the culture they stem from. For example, Half-Elf/Orcs would find larger tusks attractive and larger muscles.
