Asha'Haid (Asha-high-eed)

The Asha'haid are a subrace of elves, commonly referred to as Ash Elves or the Ashen Ones. The moniker comes from the peculiar grey tint of this race's skin. This pigmentation in addition to their sharp facial features, produces a somewhat unsettling aura. During the great Hallowing War, the Ashahaid were some of the first to fall to the armies of the Unhallowed. Previously residing in the northernmost parts of the The Malestrom Coast and the northern Void Lands, the civilization was unable to survive the unrelenting hordes of demons and monsters that emerged from the great void in the first months of the Hallowing War.   In a desperate attempt to save themselves from destruction, the Asha'haid made a deal with a lesser deity named Sheilla to serve her in exchange for their safety. Unbenkownst to the Asha'haid, Sheilla had betrayed them, giving power to Nebona to enslave the civilization. Through the dark magic of their pact with Sheilla, the Asha'haid were forced to fight against their elven brethren across the The Maelstrom Coast, eventually assisting in the fall of the capital city of Haledron near present-day Amva Naequa.   After the defeat of Nebona at Darath Malle, the Asha'haid were freed from the control of the pact. Desolate after the fall of their kingdom, they sought refuge from their remaining elven brothers and sisters. Rejected for their part in the fall of Haledren and other settlements, the Asha'haid became nomads, wandering across the ruins of the northern Maelstrom Coast. After the war, the elven kingdoms began an unprecedented reconstruction of their kingdoms. During this time, representatives of the Asha'haid kingdom requested a formal pardon in exchange for assistance in the rebuilding of the elven kingdoms. Begrudgingly, the other elven nations acquiesced, using the Asha'haid as indentured slaves to rebuild what they had destroyed.
