This crossbow has been carved from Shavarran Birch and strung with the silk of a Phase spider. While it has the stopping power of a heavy crossbow, its lightweight construction makes it much easier to wield.
When the bow is drawn, an ethereal bolt of energy is extracted from the embedded dragonshard. The magical bolt flies towards its target through the border ethereal plane, allowing it to pass through solid objects before reaching its intended target. The bolt's path intersects the material plane at the target and deals force damage.

So long as you know where your target is within range, they gain no benefits from cover. Anything that would prevent ethereal travel (like a Wall of Force) will still block the shot.
