Enhanced Skycoach

Skycoaches have been an essential mode of transport within Sharn, the City of Towers, for decades. They ferry passengers all over (and up and down) the mile-high towers of Sharn, held aloft by the flight enhancing properties of the Syrania manifest zone within the city. However, this has historically limited their use to within the city limits and quickly crash if they venture out of the manifest zones.   The elemental airships of House Lyrandar work on an entirely different principle. They are constructed from exceedingly scarce soarwood which is naturally bouyant in air, and are propelled forward under the power of a bound fire elemental. The elves of Aerenal fiercely limit the harvest and export of the precious wood, and as such few such vessels have ever been constructed. House Lyrandar controls the majority of these vessels, and is loathe to take great risks with them, even for a queen's ransom.   When Oargev ir'Wynarn commissioned House Cannith's artificers to create a vessel capable of navigating and surviving in The Mournland, they drew inspiration from both technologies to create a new vessel.   The King of Breland donated a decommissioned Skycoach to the project, and the artificers converted it into a sleek sky-sailing vessel.   Due to the unstable magics that permeate the Mournland, an elemental engine was out of the question. A more reliable form of propulsion was required. It consumes raw magical energy as fuel both to propel itself forward and remain aloft, though its sails can aid it in moving with the wind. This energy is stored in a large Khyber dragonshard in the lower deck of the vessel. The limited capacity of the dragonshard, coupled with the lack of resupply within the Mournland, led the artificers to develop a general purpose transducer capable of extracting magic energy from nearly any source (Eberron dragonshards, magic items, even spellcasters if they're desperate).   When threatened, the wings can be folded over the deck to protect its occupants at the cost of speed and efficiency.

Enhanced Skycoach

Vehicle Dimensions: 70ft x 25ft tip to tip
Crew: 2,
Passengers: 6.
Cargo: 1 t.
Travel Speed: 20 mph (480 mi/day)
HP: 200.
Damage threshold: 10.
Charges: 100 Legendary

The skycoach is powered by a large Khyber dragonshard core that serves as a fuel tank. It stores up to 100 charges.   Under normal circumstances, 10 miles of travel consumes 1 charge, and flying more than 20ft off the ground consumes 1 charge per hour. External forces such as wind can increase or decrease travel speed and fuel economy.   Refueling. The core can be refueled by draining the latent magical energy out of magical objects. An object takes 1 hour to be drained in this manner, which restores a number of charges determined by the DM based on rarity and power the object contains.

Actions

On its turn the skycoach can take 2 actions if it has 2 or more crew, and 1 action if it has 1 crew, choosing from the options below. It cannot take any actions if it has no remaining crew.   Move. The pilot directs the ship to move up to its speed with one 90 degree turn.   Folding Wings. The wings of the ship can be retracted or deployed, a process which takes one full round to complete.   When fully extended, the ship moves normally and can be aided or hindered by the prevailing winds. The deck is exposed to open air with full visibility.   When folded over the deck, the ship moves at half speed but consumes fuel at the same rate (1 charge every 5 miles). In this configuration, the ship is less susceptible to opposing winds and the deck is shielded from view and the wings provide 3/4 cover to its occupants. Occupants can still fire out of gaps in the wings around the periphery, but small sized creatures and larger cannot pass through the gaps.
