Tribunal of Thronehold
The Tribunal of Thronehold is a war crimes tribunal created as a central authority to address war crimes committed during the Last War as part of the Treaty of Thronehold, but it struggles with limited power.
The tribunal is given annual funding by the Treaty's signatory nations, and the tribunal is also provided with 50 soldiers from each nation.
Organization
The Tribunal was created as part of the Treaty of Thronehold, which ended the Last War. Its creation was largely an afterthought, added after months of negotiations between the nations. The Tribunal was meant to bring justice to those responsible for war crimes, but it was quickly undermined by the same nations that created it. Despite its symbolic importance, the Tribunal has struggled to maintain its authority and is often seen as ineffective.
The Tribunal of Thronehold is an international court to consider created by the Treaty of Thronehold that ended the Last War. Believed to have been an idea of King Boranel ir'Wynarn of Breland during the treaty negotiations, it holds court in the Hall of Judgement in a wing of Thronehold Castle in Thronehold. The Tribunal represents a multilateral effort by the nations of Khorvaire to bring war criminals to justice and prosecute the worst offense of the Last War, but this power is largely symbolic. In practice, the tribunal often finds itself dependent on nations cooperating with it and with limited personnel and funding to carry its out its task.
The Tribunal has limited resources, including a small amount of funding from the nations involved in the treaty. The Tribunal can use these funds to hire mercenaries for special retrieval operations. It also has a small army of soldiers nearly 500 soldiers from each of the nations, but these forces are more symbolic than functional. The Tribunal does maintain a supply of records, evidence, and emergency supplies in its vaults.
