Personal history
The son of a human servant in the keep, Chanaakar was taken in by then Speaker Geetru, who had found him reciting complex codes of magic without error when playing with his sister, Luukashtai, and mimicking their father's employers. So impressed was Geetru that she brought the boy to her chambers for questioning. From there she began to believe that Chanaakar was in fact a reincarnated Keeper of the Word. Indeed, he further proved himself by refusing to be separated from his beloved sister in order to train, despite the training being within the keep. All the same, Geetru permitted Luunkashtai to take one of the tests to join the Keeper order, at which she succeeded.
Chanaakar's aptitude for learning expressed itself in quick mastery of philosophies and preparatory spellcasting techniques. He studied history, Riedra, and the Inspired and trained in the martial arts of the citadel. He became fit and focused and balanced in both mind and body.
At the age of nineteen, Chanaakar abandoned tradition and, with Luunkashtai, left Kasshta Keep in secret. Guided by Kaala, a mountaineer, they journeyed across the harsh land of Adar, and solved problems, gave aid to those in need, and slew some monsters. They did what they could, didn't ask for reward or payment, and humbly accepted what others insisted on giving them. Along the way, they saw how life truly was and came to love the Adarans, and the Adarans loved them back.
Little did they know that Geetru was keeping a close eye on their activities. Seeing that he understood both the Keepers and Adar, she named Chanaakar as her successor, though it irritated a number of close advisors.
Chanaakar had been making his descent from Korrandar after seeking an audience with the Storm Guardians (it's unknown if he was successful) when an order came that he go back to Kasshta Keep. The three companions traveled there swiftly and when they arrived learned of Geetru's death. Chanaakar was even more shocked to learn he was now Speaker of the Word, as approved by the elders of Kasshta Keep.
Chanaakar appointed both Luunkashtai and Kaala as two of his Hands, agents of the Speaker. Otherwise, he changed few of Kasshta's traditions, made no reforms, and didn't remove anyone from their positions, thinking such actions were unnecessary.
With the aid of Raadu Xeel, the Endseekers attempted to assassinate Chanaakar in an effort to take control of Kasshta Keep. It was only thanks to Luunkashtai, the monks, and the sacrifice of Kaala, that the coup was thwarted. Kaala's death brought the Speaker grief, as she had been his secret love, yet even as the elders of the Keep ordered Xeel's execution, Chanaakar implored for mercy, though ultimately he was unable to dissuade them.
Since then, Chanaakar has been Speaker for almost forty years, and is beloved by much of Adar's people. In these dark times, he seeks out adventurers who will explore the ruins in Adar, discover the secrets of dragons and couatls, defend Adar, and fulfill another portion of the Draconic Prophecy there, and he aids them with hints and wise guidance.
