In 988 YK, Jode took up service in the Queen's Guard of Cyre, along with Daine. He served as a healer and also as a scout, and unlike Lei d'Cannith, he was not acting as a representative of his house, and so was under no pretense of neutrality in the war.
Jode has a fairly laid back personality, he takes his role as healer seriously, but he has a sense of humour and takes it as one of his duties to keep morale high. Good mental health inevitably leads to good physical health!
Their squad was fighting at the Fields of Ruin on the Day of Mourning. They all survived, and tried to find survivors in the ruins of Metrol. They found none, and eventually found their way to the refugee camp that would become New Cyre. Jode left along with Lei d'Cannith, Daine and Pierce to take Lei to Sharn, where her betrothed awaited.
It was not to be, and the group ended up on the streets of Sharn. Jode managed to secure work for them with the Aurum member Alina Lorridan Lyrris, to recover an employee of hers who had run off. During their search, they received fragments of prophecy from Flamewind the sphinx.
Flamewind predicted that Jode would pay a great price, and this was confirmed when his body was found in the sewers in Sharn in Zarantyr 998 YK, after he went to investigate a lead on his own in their search for Rasial Tann. Teral ir'Soras had discovered a way to remove a dragonmark from a marked individual, and it is likely that this happened to Jode. His dragonmark was never recovered, however.
