Halfling

Halflings on Eberron vary from nomadic dinosaur-riding barbarians to urban merchants and professionals. With their homeland in the Talenta Plains, and House Jorasco and House Ghallanda, halflings are one of the most widespread races on Khorvaire.   The halflings of the Talenta Plains maintain the traditions of their ancestors. Though they are physically the same as other halflings, they strike a much more imposing figure. The tribes are nomadic and traverse the Talenta Plains, moving with the herds of dinosaurs that they hunt for food. The only permanent settlement in the Talenta Plains is Gatherhold, where the nomadic halflings meet up every year. They are not materialistic, and carry few possessions with them as they travel around the plains. Their paint their tents in bright colours and draw on them, depicting stories of their ancestors.   Each halfling in a Talentan tribe forms a spiritual bond with a dinosaur, represented by their masks. Each mask represents the identity of the halfling, and they believe that when they wear it, their spirit combines with the spirit of their bonded dinosaur. The bond between a halfling and their dinosaur companion is of similar significance to marriage in humans, and the loss of either in the pair is deeply traumatic to the other.   Not all halflings follow these traditions, however. Some traded the nomadic lifestyle of their ancestors to live in the major cities of Khorvaire. Many of them are associated with one of the two halfling dragonmarked houses, House Ghallanda and House Jorasco, but not all of them. Some of them have never even seen their homeland, whilst others travel to the plains every year and experience both lifestyles.   There are two dragonmarks that manifest on halflings, the Mark of Healing, and the Mark of Hospitality.
