The Aurum
The Aurum is a secretive social club containing many of the wealthiest citizens of Khorvaire with an interest in history and artifacts of the past.
Structure
Members of the Aurum, known as Concordians, often wear eight rings of a different metal (copper, silver, gold, or platinum), a tradition derived from the dwarves. These rings correspond to their Concord. Each ring has the same value as ten coins of the same metal.
Membership is divided between different concords corresponding to the metals of the rings they wear. Social position determines at what level new members join, but station is not determine solely by wealth or social position. In theory, any Concordian can ascend through merit to the Platinum Concord.
Some believe there is a secret conspiracy within the Aurum that operates separately from the Concords. This Shadow Cabinet is believed to have plans to rule the continent of Khorvaire.
History
The Aurum started as a fraternity of wealthy and powerful dwarves from the Mror Holds. When the Kingdom of Galifar collapsed, and the dwarves suddenly had a nation of their own, the members of this collective began to look beyond the Ironroot Mountains.
