Sharn

The City of Towers

Sharn is the most populous city in all of Khorvaire, and possibly all of Eberron. The city towers atop a cliff in southern Breland and is built upon a Manifest Zone to the Elemental Plane of Air, allowing the impossibly tall structures and flying vehicles that dwell within.

Layout

Sharn is a completely vertical city. It's divided into five distinct plateaus, known as Wards, each comprising a clump of towers. Those are Central Plateau, Menthis Plateau, Northedge, Dura  and Tavick's Landing. Cliffside is outside of the towers, built into the side of the cliff, and lumped in with Dura as its own distinct district.   Within each ward, it is also broken down into 3 tiers: Upper, Middle, and Lower. Citizens think of both Upper Dura and Lower Dura as distinct places, though the separation of where the districts exactly split is up for debate. The lower a district, the worse off it tends to be; however, a location in Lower Central Plateau is probably safer and more wealthy than visiting Middle Dura even though its lower in the city, as each Plateau has its own reputation.

Culture

With several hundred thousand people, it's easily one of the most culturally diverse in Khorvaire. Though it exists in the Kingdom of Breland, many of it's citizens come from all over the continent to live in the big city. Different districts attract different cultures, and it's possible to visit Malleon's Gate for authentic goblin cuisine, then head up to Shae Lias for a traditional Elvish dinner party. Whatever your taste, there is likely somebody to fulfill it here within Sharn.

Crime

The city has traditionally been run by the Boromar Clan as far as crime goes. This family of halflings were able to control the import of illicit goods within cliffside. Over the last few months, the Daask had managed to cut into their business. This led to bloody feuds on the street, in which gangs openly attacked and murdered each other.   This came to an end recently, as the politician Xavier Sisk ran on a platform of cleaning up the streets of Sharn, was elected to represent Lower Dura, and promptly clamped down on the Boromar Clan, running them out of power. It was later revealed that Xavier was none other than a Changeling going by the name of Crate Ostra. He then turned on the Daask, leading raids that took down both sides of the crime war. A power vacuum has emerged, with a little known organization known as House Tarkanan filling in the gaps. For now, the streets have been quiet.

Infrastructure

Sharn is a huge city of towers, basically a collection of towers sprawling high into the sky. These towers rise impossibly tall, miles straight up, making its footprint rather small but instead becoming large by being a vertical city.
