Sharn Wards

Sharn is broken up into 5 different wards, along with a few minor or non official wards. Within the structure of the city of towers, which goes up miles into the sky, Wards are a regional collection of such towers from the deepest part of the city to the highest peaks. Each ward is more unofficially divided into 3 sections: Upper, Middle, and Lower. Thus, people in sharn might refer to Upper Dura, Lower Tavick's Lander, or Middle Northedge as distinct places.   Each Ward will generally have a different level of wealth, safety, and social status than each other. Generally, the higher in a ward you go, the better it is within those confines. Thus, while Dura is traditionally a poorer ward than Northedge, Upper Dura may be a nicer place than Lower Northedge.    Further dividing each ward are districts. Each ward is made up of collection of districts, each with their own council member to represent them in city matters. Many districts tend to develop around a single culture, such as the Goblinoid District of Malleon's Gate or the Dwarven neighborhood of Highhold. Others develop around a specific trade, such as the Tavern District Hareth's Folly or the Temples of High Hope. There are even districts like University District dedicated to Education, or the Firelight neighborhood hosting a redlight district.    This leads for Sharn to be a very mixed culture place, where one district could feel completely foreign to another. It also allows you to catch a show at an elven theater, dine on gnomish foods, and then retire to a dwarven tavern all within one day. While not exactly a melting pot, there is no other mixing of cultures in all of Khorvaire than you find here in Sharn.
