The Primal Realm

Written by Salen

The Primal Realm is a relative place not anywhere in the Shards at all, but slightly to the left. The three Orc gods rule here, staying out of each others way when possible, and visiting the world when they choose. They are the ultimate powers here, and any who oppose them in this domain are either daft or planning on a swift death. Unlike the realms of the gods, this realm is unique in that it was born from raw emotion. The realm sprang forth from the collective urges of the gods-reft orcs, channeling their rage, passion, and hunger. This power radiated out and col laced into the Primal realm (sometimes called the triple realm) At the same time, sprang forth the gods of the realm as well, each ending up in a part of the realm that suited them.

Time

Time does not flow normally here in this realm, and beings who visit here will find its effects disquieting at best. For every minute they spend here in this realm, one hour goes by in the real world. Fortunately, any being who resides in this realm sees their deepest desires and urges magnified a thousand fold, and most go mad or die in the process. The three can choose to save their mortal worshipers, but often don't even realize they are here until it is too late; such is the way of powerful beings. Stories of a place where rage consumes people, or even where people have sex until they die are likely born from this realm.

Geography

The Primal Realm consists of three levels, all seeming endless in their own right. Travel between these levels is by thought more than physical travel, and getting stuck in one can lead to demise no matter which level it is. Even though they are not stacked in a physical way, they are detailed here as first, second, and third for purposes of explanation.

Garden of Pleasure

The first level is the garden of Pleasure and is the home of Ragh. this female power is consumed with the life and death cycle and uses passion and lust as her calling. The lush grass and pillars of stone all seem very perfect in their own right, and the air itself seems pure and intoxicating at the same time. To stay here too long is to fall into a lust so bad that some have been known to die from it.

Fields of battle

The fields of battle are the domain of Wend and it is here that he trains constantly, raging across the endless mountain tops and plateaus. Here ruins dot the landscape, where contests of strength and battle can be found. The high mountains bring crisp air and the fog that seems to always be rolling in acts as a perfect cover for attack. People that find themselves here lose them selves to a rage that can not be quenched, fighting all who can be seen. There is a chance that anyone here long enough can meet the power named Wend in combat and besting him will result in a great boon.

Pits of Devouring

The last realm of the three is called the pits of devouring and is the home of Gnash, God of Hunger.. Here a great palace of eating sits upon a dormant volcano, while all around the fires of hunger flame. here a person feels their hunger grow to such an extent that they will eat anything they can consume...anything. There are stories of orcs eating their companions here, then starting in on themselves.  The air is always warm, as the fire pits are always cooking food for the realms lord and ruler, who sits on his throne of bone and devours all who come to him without need.

Fauna & Flora

The flora here in the Primal realm is the same that can be found in the real world with one notable exception. It is usually larger and more pronounced. Trees are larger, fruit is juicier, and flowers bloom bigger. Massive creeping vines and growths, grass waist high, and even dark bushes of ashen color can be found throughout the three levels. The fauna however is almost non-existent. If it wasn't chased down in the garden of pleasure, or killed amid the battles...then it was certainly cooked for food.

So, trying to make a farm in the third level would probably just result in you eating the seeds or saplings, right?

Heh, yeah. Luckily the ground there is rough to use for farming. The food there is created by the desire of Gnash himself and appears in the hall almost regularly. The mindless cooks can tell when something is wrong when the food stops...that means he is distracted.
