Gnash, God of Hunger.

Written by Salen

Many centuries ago, after the orcs had lost all faith in their god Dava, God of Healing & Protection, they called upon their primal urges for comfort in the troubled times. Acting on these major urges, — Fighting, Eating, Sex, and Death — for so many years brought about a fantastic change that still isn't understood to this day. These urges created three powerful beings, similar to gods, that whispered to them blessings and comfort. They choose priests and then went back to their strange primal realm — the Triple realm of Avarice. Gnash is one of these primal gods.   The god of hunger and consumption is a foul god to behold and thankfully no one will ever have to do that unless they call him into this world. His priests say that he is a massive four armed orc, with a huge mask covering all but his enormous maw. He is over 25 feet tall and usually sits his tremendous bulk upon his throne of bone, in the temple of Everburning, and devours souls brought to him by placating demons. He is the god that orcs call to when they are starving, when they have a hard crop, or when they are trying to feed their family. He has also been known to have inspired the cannibalistic cult found in the inhospitable land of Gah.

Worship through the Years

Over the years the worship of these primal gods has resulted in a kind of separation. The three major nations of the Shards each have a metropolis and worship a particular god exclusively. This came about when the young warlords began to fight among each other and banish their enemies. They kept only the priests that believed in their god and sent the others away. This resulted in each nation worshiping a different god and drew the Shards into a religious tug of war.

Divine Domains

Hunger, Consumption, and Gluttony.

Tenets of Faith

Eat your fill and never go hungry.

Divine Goals & Aspirations

As a primal god, Gnash desires only that his followers consume, whether that is food, or drink matters not to him. Neither does it matter to this force of primal urges that they live...just that they die doing what he embodies. This is the major difference between the gods and the primal forces, gods care about their followers to some degree...the primal gods care only about being satiated by their driving force.

Designated Gods

As each nation has a god, so do the people have theirs. This does not mean that no one prays to the god of battle in the nation of Ragh, just that it is only lip service. Rituals and ceremonies are done exclusively for their chosen god and to do otherwise means banishment. The Nation of Gromsh (Hokrusk, Boltusk, and Farthtusk) worships Gnash and his ceremonies involve grand feasts that go all night. His high priest is always the biggest orc (fattest)
