Kemin

The Kemin are a type of great hunting cat that came over with the elves. They flourished at first, but when the other races found that their fur was good for cloaks, keeping the people semi-hidden in the shadows, they were hunted near to extinction. These great cats are powerful and grow rather large, large enough that the elves can ride them into battle when tamed properly. Only the elves thus far have been able to ride these great beasts, as they have a deeper connection with them on a natural level that the animals can somehow sense. magic plays only a small part surprisingly enough, yet it still plays a part.

The Kemin have great eye sight, seeing even better at night than most great cats.

Elven Kemin Riders

The Elves have a specialized force of cavalry that ride these great beasts into combat called the Elven Kemin Riders. They number in the hundreds and are mainly used in the Forest of S'ren where the great cats are the most agile and at home, though they have been known to patrol the plains as well. The elves fight with long spears and short bows while mounted and are adept at firing from the saddle even at a good pace.
