Tieflings in Eashavar | World Anvil

Tieflings

Tieflings

Tieflings are among the most successful of Eashavar's blood-tainted races. Despite facing social distrust and a tumultuous history, Tieflings have carved out their own nation in Trinea and revised religious lore in the form of the Tawi Mythos to better represent their own odd positions within the world. Technically the children of Xalgumath, Tieflings have long abhorred and abandoned his influence, and his powers fail to continue in their influence now that he is imprisoned in chains.

General Information

Rarity: Common. (You may play this race without consulting the DM.)   Physical Description: Tieflings have clear devil-like features, including varied horns, sharp incisors, tails, and claws. Their skin is typically red in color, but can also range to purple, blue, and pink, and their eyes are typically solid black, red, white, silver, or gold. They have no visible pupils. Their hair varies in color from natural ones like dark, black, or brown, but also includes such colors as red, blue, purple and silver. Tieflings of either gender may or may not grow facial and body hair, though most prefer to keep themselves clear of both.   Family Structure: Tieflings live with their immediate family, and sometimes their siblings and grandparents, though rarely with many more people than this. They are a self-reliant people, and they prefer independence away from the pressures and expectations of a large family. A Tiefling's surname is earned as they pass into adulthood, and has no correlation with family, though some Tieflings take on an important ancestor's middle name as a matter of respect. First names are given at birth, but often change as Tieflings pass into adulthood, taking twists on favored ideals, personality traits, or objects.   Attitude Toward Society: Tieflings were once abhorred by mortal societies as aberrations, corrupted by the influence of Xalgumath. Tieflings carved out their homeland of Trinea from the Vestali in the Age of Enlightenment, however, and have gradually been gaining acceptance abroad since. Trinea is still a bastion for Tiefling-kind, but they may be functioning and tolerated members of societies all around the world. They stem from humans, and can be quite adaptive at integration wherever they go, so long as their physical appearance does not prevent them.   Attitude Toward Gender: Tieflings are remarkably open-minded when it comes to concepts like gender. The constitution of Trinea declares equality for all, regardless of such facts, and thus the primary example of a Tiefling society does not adhere to any norms of gender, or any predispositions towards how it should be categorized, at all. Tieflings in other societies tend to adopt the local gender norms, and merge into those they feel a greater connection with, but they are always intrigued and made curious by the norms of other species, and can be quite exploratory when it comes to their own identities.   Attitude Toward Relationships: Tieflings are largely monogamous, finding life-partners early in their adulthood and living with them throughout their lives. These life-partners may be of any gender, though some Tieflings have preferences. If a life-partner dies, a Tiefling may remarry, though it is typically with another who has lost their life-partner. A second partnership is often viewed as less serious, and can be more open than the first, which is almost always strictly exclusive.
