Siren's Call Dia de los Muertos Festival

The festival is an amalgam of the Western influenced Halloween holiday, the Mexican Dia de los Muertos festivities, and the Brazilian Carnival. It's probably the largest party in all of the Bahaman Republic, with people traveling from all across the Breach to attend. Due to the dangerous nature of the trip to the island, part of the Day of the Dead is reserved for those travelers who didn't survive the journey. This is a lucrative time for the ferrymen of the Breach, particularly those skilled enough to easily navigate the Breach's waters, such as Dra'kava. The festivities are generally hosted by the island's exotic inhabitants, most of whom thrive in the celebration. The bars and brothels in particular see a significant increase in revenue.

Execution

The festival starts on October 31st with the Halloween activities, usually reserved for trick or treating and other activities for the children. This is when the carnival is active, with games and activities that are mostly family-friendly. November 1st is generally a more private affair, with people placing alters and offerings to deceased loved ones in their homes, at gravesides, and within the crypts of Siren's Roost. November 2nd is for the adults, with festive bar crawls and parties being commonplace. This is also when a Carnival style parade is held that travels throughout the various participating villages of the island. Anyone who wants to is free to create a float of their own, as elaborate as they want, or to simply travel with the parade in their cars or carriages.

Participants

All of the major races contribute in their own way. The merfolk provide boat tours of the lagoon and various waterways, as well as underwater tours of the Eco Caverns (for folks who can afford scuba gear, of course). The harpies shower the children with candied sweets and host rock climbing and repelling on their mountainside leading up to a tour of Talon Ridge. The lamia hold the haunted houses deep within the Caves of Diluc after the tours of their village. For those willing to traverse the swamplands, the slimefolk hold various, rather muddy, games for the children within Encantador Quinielas; the lizardfolk provide expeditions into the ruins of Da Ma'kto; and both swampland races, of course, host tours of their villages. The sirens hold candlelit vigils and other more sacred rituals inside the temples and crypts of Siren's Roost.
