Chapter 5: Welcome to Southern Mis

The adventurers suddenly find themselves in a strange room, in a strange land, completely unaware of where they are and how they got there. A surprised halfling greets them and then quickly runs off, bringing back the merchants guild leader who informs them that they've been brought here by her god to assist her.   Something has been taking trade caravans and killing messengers. The military has been completely powerless to figure out what it is or to stop it.   Trade is grinding to a halt. The mining villages in the east have stopped shipping their goods out of fear. Food is becoming scarce and travel is nonexistent. The common folk grow weary, the military is disheartened and restless, and the government coffers continue to dwindle.   There are some, like Gloria Ryoma, head of the merchants' guild in Penmell, that are absolutely convinced that the answers to their problems lie in their sister city of Mandan. If communication can just be reestablished, they can solve their problems.

Plot points/Scenes

Scene - Arrival in Penmell - The party encounters mystery. They meet Gloria and are assigned a mission. A mission from a god.   Scene - Departure - The party meets the merchant they're supposed to escort to Mandan. He shows them the route he wishes to travel, skirting around the normal trade routes and extending travel by nearly a week more. The Party also encounters their Thungi guide.   Scene - The Visi - While travelling the road not far from the city the guide calls for the party to stop. A pair of Visi approach from the trees and speak to the guide in a foreign tongue. The guide does not openly relay the information after the encounter and the caravan continues on.   Scene - Ganay - The small trading town of Ganay. They are hurting from the lack of trade and food, but the soldiers talk about the lack of recent raids from the barbarians. It's either boring or a paid vacation, depending on who you talk to.   Scene - Killers in the Night - The party is attacked during the night. Vicious monsters cloaked in shadow. Thervi, but wrong somehow.   Scene - The Trade Caravan - The party comes across another trade caravan.   Scene - The Monks - The caravan comes across a pair of monks praying alongside the road. They, strangely, talk to Caprica. The merchant is, understandably, very confused about this.   Scene - The Refugees - A band of fleeing refugees. There can't be more than ten of them, and they all flee into the forest as soon as they see the caravan. One of them trips and hurts themselves badly, unable to move.   Scene - The Tribes United - A group of Thervi and Ostros attack the caravan. It's daylight, but overcast.   Scene - Barbarians at the Gate - Finally the party reaches Mandan. The city is under siege.   Scene - The Shadow God - Upon failing their attempt to breach the siege, they're captured and taken to the Shadow God.   Scene - Mandan The party manages to get past the siege and make it into the city. They're quickly encountered by the City Watch.
