Earth

In 2338 Mankind learned, definitively, that they were not alone in the universe. They had always known they were never the first, the artifacts, bases, and satellites they had found throughout the Sol System were proof of that. But now, instead of thinking they were all that was left, they had been found.   The ships of The Three Peoples entered the Sol System loudly, making every effort to convey their peacefulness. They brought knowledge, technology, and a shared kinship, delighting that the creatures of Earth were also built of DNA. They quickly welcomed their distant cousins to the fold, as they had so many species before.   The Three Peoples were completely unaware of Mankind's immaturity, though. They took the gifts offered, then they mutilated them. Ancient feuds among the humans were quickly revived as a massive arms race began. The Three Peoples did their best to flee the Sol System, but too many were lost or left behind in the chaos.   The humans were mad with the power bestowed upon them. No single leader in the Three Peoples could bring themselves to call for an extermination of the system, so a quarantine was put in place, a guard posted, and the disaster covered up as best as could be.   War raged in the Sol System. Earth was engulfed in flame and chaos for centuries. Eventually, though, a sort of balance was established. The destructive technologies and powerful magics were brought under control or lost in the upheaval. Mankind, along with the people left behind, began to rebuild, knowledge of the past lost to all of those living.   Earth is now cut off from the stars, and even from the colonies throughout the Sol System. With no knowledge of space, the people of Earth work to rebuild, to explore the ancient ruins, or, for the select few left with memories of the past, to escape their prison.
