Sunwalker

Basic Information

Anatomy

Humanoid in most aspects, these creatures possess one sets of fangs, which click into place over their outer incisors. Their adrenal glands are non-functional. Their eyes also glow when their powers are in use:   Type One and Four: Violet irises only.   Type Two and Three: Violet irises + pupils.   Healer-Sunwalker: Green irises, usually with violet rings around the pupils

Biological Traits

Due to their supernatural abilities, most Sunwalkers maintain an average weight for their height.

Genetics and Reproduction

Sunwalkers are created in one of a few ways:   Type One: A Sunwalker turns a human directly. The human has to consume sunwalker blood. They are almost immediately healed of any life-threatening wounds, but the full transformation takes 12-24 hours. They CAN be conscious during this time.   Type Two: If a vampire kills a celestial and drinks their blood, they will begin turning almost instantaneously. The transformation will take 12-24 hours. They CAN be conscious during this time.   Type Three: Pureblood sunwalkers are the children of two sunwalkers. They have violet irises and pupils and grow at an averagely similar rate to human children, however, they do have a tendency to look a few years younger than humans of the same age. Generally these children will have powers of both parents and they are faster and stronger. For purebloods, the gestation period is around nine months.   Type Four: Sunwalkers also commonly have children with humans. If the sunwalker blood makes up more than 50% of their ancestry, the are considered 'type four' sunwalkers. If not, they are simply advanced humans. However, Sunwalker blood is more potent than vampire and celestial blood, meaning that it is more powerful in later generations. For type four sunwalkers, the gestation period is around seven months, however complications with birth are common when the mother is human.   Sunwalkers may also have children with healers. In this case, the children are born Healer-Sunwalkers, with full access to all of the genetic manipulation abilities of a healer, as well as the psychic abilities of a sunwalker.   If a human already have healer blood in their system when Sunwalker blood is introduced, the two will bind together and produce a Healer-Sunwalker.   All sunwalkers will age to around 20 (for type ones and twos, if they are turned after 20, this part does not apply). Then the aging process stops until they reach 200, where they will then begin to age one year every ten years. For types one and two, those turned after age 20 will not age until they reach ten times the age they turned at (i.e: someone turned at 24 will start aging at 240 while someone turned at 31 will not start aging until they reach 310). To attain true immortality, they, like all other species, are required to give up something, be it a power or life or something else.

Growth Rate & Stages

Type Three and Four sunwalkers will grow marginally slower than humans, meaning they generally will not reach their full height and power potential until about 20 rather than 18.

Dietary Needs and Habits

Sunwalkers are required to drink blood to get adrenaline - in a very similar way to their vampire cousins - as well as iron. They can survive on animal blood, adrenaline and iron supplements, but this is a high risk method of feeding - if the numbers and calculations aren't right, it can cause them to become volatile and unstable. They also have the ability to overdose on adrenaline, which can cause their deaths.

Biological Cycle

Female sunwalkers do not generally have regular periods, rather a painful, four-day bleeding cycle which occurs at the end of June, during which time they will experience severe mood swings and often quite literally kill anyone (except for their partner) in a six foot radius. They are fertile only three times throughout the year, once around samhain (October 31st), once around yule (December 21st) and once around beltane (May 1st).

Additional Information

Uses, Products & Exploitation

Vampires often kidnap Sunwalkers, for type ones, this is in order to study their biology and attempt to understand how they are able to exist in the sun. For type twos, this is so they can drain their blood and absorb their sunwalking and psychic abilities.

Perception and Sensory Capabilities

Sunwalkers possess healing, agility, speed, strength, stamina and senses enhanced beyond even the normal level for a vampire. A few also hold other abilities, which vary from kinetic abilities to physical shifting powers.

Civilization and Culture

Major Language Groups and Dialects

All sunwalkers are psychic and are able to communicate through this regardless of original language as there is a translation 'matrix' hidden in most psychic powers.

Interspecies Relations and Assumptions

Sunwalkers are often taken hostage in order for scientifically trained vampires to try and figure out how they work and what makes them 'tick'. Like Vampires, Sunwalkers are usually found in clans, however, these clans are usually very small with between 20 and 50 members maximum - including humans, vampires, celestials and other species. Sunwalkers are also capable of functioning on their own and have very good relations with humans. Sunwalkers mostly keep to themselves, trusting very few people and nobody outside of their clan.
Genetic Ancestor(s)
Genetic Descendants
Scientific Name
Homo sol vamperium
Lifespan
1000 years (True Immortality can be attained)
Conservation Status
Endangered. Approximately 400 Sunwalkers exist worldwide. There are no current conservation efforts, however, the largest purely sunwalker clan lies in africa and numbers 50. America is home to a total of 90, while Australia has the highest population numbering 170. The UK has another 30 and the remaining 60 are spread across India and China.
