Personal history
Born to an aristocratic Bulgarian family living in Russia, she grew up wealthy. Her family managed to avoid many of the hardships incurred by the rest of Russia after the end of the Siberian Revolution and subsequent coup. Elena herself, soon after finishing high school, was able to study at Sofia University St. Kliment Ohridski in the European Union. While there, she developed a pro-European ideology, and covertly signed on with EURINTEL, and received training.
When Elena returned to Russia, she acted as an agent for EURINTEL, assassinating targets that were deemed necessary. Her trademark weapon, a poisoned umbrella, allowed her to kill over a dozen targets. However, in 2062, her family discovered some of her correspondence with EURINTEL. Being pro-Russian, they denounced her as a traitor and turned her into the authorities. She narrowly avoided execution, and was instead sent to a labor camp near the Siberian border, where she stayed for five years. Although denied as an asset by the European Union, her exploits did not go unnoticed by Echelon International. In 2067, an Echelon commando team raided the labor camp, freeing Elena. She was offered a position as an Operative within the company, and accepted.
