Naming Traditions

Martians create unique names for their offspring mostly using the g,r,x,z,y,ei,e,n,v,o,oo,s,k sounds. Martians take their last name from the laboratory that they were developed in. There are 5 growth laboratories that have been in service for the past 2500 years they are Zexyx, Yoonx, Keizyx, Keirok, and Genzyx. Martians born before 3227 EOB may have been born sexually and have their parents family name.

Beauty Ideals

Martians dislike hair. Though body hair has been genetically removed from the martian genome since 2118 EOB , most martians still have some cranial hair. Nearly all martians shave these hairs off or have them removed.

Gender Ideals

Martians have abandoned gender as sexual reproduction is extinct within their species. They still have sexual organs but their outward appearance does not give them away and even other martians can't tell the sexual gender of another martian without seeing these organs.

History

The Martian people arrived just over 100 years ago initiating the Era of Rediscovery. Martians are a solitary people and prefer to live alone and away from other Martians, this is not because they don't like other Martians but a belief that they can cover more ground scientifically by being in different locations, increasing the chance of discovery of natural phenomena.
The martian people discovered the remains of an ancient civilization that appeared to be beyond their technology level, as they expanded outward into space they found more and more remains of this civilization. With no evidence of an extinction event the martian people reasoned that they must have found a way to ascend to a higher plane of existence and begun their search, investigating this ancient race, and looking for the gateway to the higher plane.
In 3876 EOB maritans started to conceive, raise, and educate their young in Growth Laboratories. By 3227 EOB they were exclusively born into this method. There are 5 growth laboratories that have been in service for the past 2500 years they are Zexyx, Yoonx, Keizyx, Keirok, and Genzyx. All martians born after 2514 EOB come from one of these labs. Martians born before 3227 EOB may have been born sexually and are revered, but considered strange by most lab born martians.
The first martian to encounter Earin was Greixig Zxxyx. Greixig detected the strange readings coming from the planet and decided to land to investigate further. The strange conditions of the planet however caused Greixig to crash. Greixig was also the first martian to die on Earin as he was killed soon after by a human farmer who mistook Greixig for a scavenging animal. Martians have since set up a relay network across Earin using their damaged ships at laboratories. The network is easily detected by newly crashed martians and informs them of the proper way to introduce themselves to locals as well as giving them access to the knowledge and research of all the other martians on Earin. Due to the willingness of martians to share information, most humans settlements have allocated space for a martian to set up their laboratory. Settlements without martians will even compete with each other to encourage/lure the next crashed martian into their town. Many Martians then support themselves by acting as wireless telegraph operators, taking payment to send messages from town to town.

Common Myths and Legends

Martians are a space faring race that follow the philosophy of ស្វែងរក (Svengorok), an eternal search for access to a high plane of reality or existence. The unique properties of Earin draw passing Martians into investigating, it is these same unique properties that have trapped the Martians on Earin.

Interspecies Relations and Assumptions

Martians get along well with most sapient species. They don't view the mechanical as sapient but are very impressed and intrigued by them. They are also very intrigued by the reanimated.
