Kalimundo Character in Earedar | World Anvil

Kalimundo

The Wandering Merchant

"I first encountered the deity known as Kalimundo during my travels with Faena Longstrider and Alanon Caeldrim. He was a wisp of a thing, jovial in nature and fleet of foot. I didn't know his true nature at that time, but even then we recognized his wonders."

Beyond the Edge of the World

Little is known about Kalimundo's mortal life, but it is known that he lived as a Tilaxi during the Emerald Age, most likely under the rule of the Tseluda Empire. Some say he was a great merchant prince or robber baron, but what we do know that shortly after his death he ascended to divinity as a Lesser God, and has wandered the Known Realms ever since with his wares. It is said that within his carts he possesses the deepest desire of every mortal, if they have but the courage to ask, and the coin.
While Kalimundo does not have an official clergy, he is worshipped widely by those desiring riches and wealth across Earedar. The largst group that venerates him is the Trade League, although all those who desire great riches find comfort in his embrace. Kalimundo himself is greatly offended by these hangers on, and believes that the true goal in accumulating wealth should be for the betterment of others, and that the true joy found in commerce is in the marketplace, haggling and hustling for great deals.

The Trade League- The Trade League is a coalition of city-states on the northern shores of the Inner Sea that holds a monopoly over trade in the region. All trade coming through the Kingdom of Eastfall, the Frozen North or the other northern kingdoms must come through Kierrash River before entering the open sea, and is thus subject to the League's taxes. This allows them to control the flow of massive amounts of goods on the Inner Sea, and they have used this power to gain control over most of the Merchant's Guilds of the various nations and city-states bordering the region. Their main rival is the Black Dragon.
