Chiyapur

Chiyapur is a small, out of the way settlement in north Terr'aina. Despite it's fairly worn down appearance, it remains the largest permanent settlement for hundreds of li around. Before The Period of the Ocean's Expansion, Chiyapur was a Aeravan settlement by technicality, before it was taken swiftly by Kaiyocea. When Terr'aina eventually regained it, Aerava ceded control of it to Terr'aina, which actually allowed it to benefit in the long run with Terr'ainan trade being responsible for most of the growth this outpost has seen in the last decades. While still a distinctly unsavory place for many, it does posses a unique blended charm of Aeravan and Terr'ainan society.
However, primarily Chiyapur is known for two things in particular - being an outpost for exploration and hunting, and custom Arcanarms. Terr'aina is where many of the materials used for Arcanarms is found, access to newer Aeravan advancements, and the fact that adventurers are so readily available allows a thriving culture around Arcanarms. There is even an entire market, Baril Bazaar, where Arcanarm smiths and enthusiasts gather. The empty wastes to the North, along with exceptional amounts of dangerous wildlife let Arcanarms be tested and improved constantly, and some of the best smiths, well regarded in even Najm Ramliun choose to take residence here. The Qilin Hunters are perhaps the most famed of Chiyapur's residents, being widely considered the oldest and best organization of monster hunters around. In fact, its much thanks to them that Chiyapur is still standing, though that may be a story for another time, and better told by a Qilin hunter.
Possessing an economy mostly focused around exotic goods, rare materials gathered by adventurers, Arcanarms, and some high quality minerals makes Chiyapur a fairly low priority for Terr'ainan government attention. Despite this, it has managed to keep up a continual growth through what appears to be the sheer tenacity and adaptability of it's longtime and new residents. Chiyapur now boasts a respectable Sky Driver port, plenty of inns and taverns, and thriving marketplaces. Essentially not organized at all, buildings in Chiyapur are often old, slightly unstable and built around each other in... unique ways. Walking through the city might entail a dirt road one minute, then the multi-leveled mess of a bazaar the next. Much like the city, the people in Chiyapur aren't exactly welcoming or warm, but the city works off of mutual respect and cooperation at its heart, as do it's citizens. At the end of the day, Chiyapur makes a great pit stop for an adventurer or any caliber.
