Western Waisent Woods

Overview

The Western Waisent Woods are the westernmost section of the Waisent Woods. This section is known for its strange magic, which is how its earned the name: the Enchanted Forest of Waisent. The strange magic originates from a portal connected to the Feywild at The Emerald Willow.

Geography

Location

The Western Waisent Woods is located on the westernmost section of the Waisent Woods.

Geographic Features

The Western Waisent Woods match the rest of the Waisent Woods for the most part, until one reaches the center of the forest.

Portal to the Feywild

At the center of the Western Waisent Woods, there is a portal to the Feywild in the center of The. The magic of the Feywild has been leaking into this particular part of the world for a long time. The plants around the portal have grown greatly and have gained a cruel sense of humor. Occasionally creatures from the Feywild can be found wandering around the region affected. The portal converts the area with a one-mile radius around it .

Ecosystem

Creatures and plants in the Western Waisent Woods have been touched by the wild magic of the Fey.

Plants

Trees and other plants farther from the portal gain sentience and a sense of cruel humor. These plants may try to trip passing people, tangle them with vines, or change the shape of the outer forest to help the adventurer lose their sense of direction and location. Once a cruel joke has been played, the plants will emit a laugh similar to that of a young female child.
Plants that are closer to the portal become more magical. Trees become Awakend Trees and shrubs and plants become Awakend Shrubs. These plants have absorbed more of the Feyworld's magic and become sentient. They will attack creatures that get too close to them. Trees also have Assassin Vines hanging down from them.
All throughout the forest the plants and grass/ground try to hide and disguise corpses and bones. If someone has died there recently, one can see their body slowly being taken over by the nature. The body may be being pulled into the roots of a tree, grass may be growing over it, or large plants may be found on top of them. These aggressive plants thrive off of creature's energy and blood.

Animals

This part of the forest is inhabited by many creatures that you would find normally around the forest. The normally small creatures become their giant varients. These giant boar, dire wolves, aggresive buffed deer, and black bears are very aggressive. If they see another creature, combat is likely to occur.

Fey

Pixies and Fey Sprites can be found flying through the area. Most notebly is Alette, a tiny pixie that tries to lead unsuspecting mortals into the portal into the Feywild.

Dragons

This region is inhabited by the Faerie Dragon Dlardrageth Sfaxthath. People who enter the forest may catch glimpses of a small dragon watching them, and may find themselves with one less trinket or at the mercy of a creature from the Feywild, brought to them for Dlardrageth's amusement.

Localized Phenomena

Because there is a portal to the Feywild at the center of this forest, this region has been affected by its magic. More on that in the ecosystem section. However, the life in the area isn't the only thing affected. Time runs strangly while in the one mile radius of the porta to the Feywild. When a person enters the area, times moves normally for them, but a minute in the area of the portal is equal to an hour to everyone else. No one really knows how this effect works. People who manage to make it out of the Feywild tend to be greeted by older friends or paniced parents. A particular scholar, by the name of Golgew Longtoungue, has looked into this strange magic. He has contimplated the use of its time altering powers, such as using it as a stasis chamber for people who are on their deathbed with no hope for a cure.

Tourism

Adventurers or scholars in the region with a love for magic and the unknown may desire to pay the Western Waisent Woods a visit. Their vacation is usually cut short by cruel plants or dangerous animals.
