Papers and Paychecks

Overview

Papers and Paychecks is a parchment and qill game. Players pretend to be students and workers in a futuristic society without magic, but with incredible machines and tech.

History

Papers and Paychecks was invented by humans named Gary Gygax and David Arneson. He took inspiration from texts that spoke of the future. He wanted to create a game, which would take players to a new world free of their current one's problems. He first developed it in his house in Aeternium, but it quickly spread. Now you can find the game being played everywhere. As it spread, it slowly underwent changes. Through Gygax's life, he updated the game from its first edition, to its current 5th edition. Both creators are dead now.

Components and tools

The components that are most important are the Tax Master, and the Players. The Tax Master controls and creates the world for the Players to play in. Papers and Paychecks also comes with three core rulebooks per edition. Both the Tax Master and Players usually have a copy of these to help them on their adventure through this futuristic world. Each Player possessed a file on their character, which detailed the life they lived, their personality, and their brains and brawn. The main form of encounter is the court, usually with two sides and the Tax Master being the judge, and if need be, the second side. Papers and "Legal Forms" are created to make this encounter more realistic.

Participants

There are two key roles in Papers and Paychecks, the Tax Master and Player(s). The Tax Master either finds a module or creates his own homebrew world for the Players to run around in. The Tax Master controls everything, but the Player's characters. Even though the Tax Master controls the good, the neutral, and the evil guys, doesn't mean that he/she is trying to destroy the player's lives and leave them in debt. The Tax Master's goal is to maek sure everyone has fun, and the Player's actions have futurist consequinces. Note, this doesn't mean that the Tax Master 100% on the players side either, their goal is not to make the players as powerful and rich as possible within a short amount of time. Now, the Players are the seccond key role, without the Players, nothing would happen in the Tax Master's world. The Players are the force that make unexpected changes to the world. Their job is to play with the tools given to them by the Tax Master.
