1 - 2 - 1: Glynneath

Structure

Exposition

The players arrive in the town of Glynneath, a small mining town built right on the edge of the Magunta Mountains. You have heard that the leader of Glynneath is Mayor Maximillian Francis Waligi, from a line of Waligis who have ruled over Glynneath since its construction. The players have been sent to Glynneath to deliver a message for the blacksmifth back at Tallinn requesting more iron to help them rebuild after the goblin raid.

Conflict

You were sent to Glynneath with a message from Wayland, Tallinn's blacksmith, requesting more resources. But, after your arrivel in Glynneath, a miner mysteriously runs out of the mines screaming, then he collapses. Apon further inspection of Gregory, they will find small spores and mushrooms growing out of his body.

Rising Action

Mayor Maximillian Francis Waligi will accuse the players of putting some kind of curse on his town because they came right before this death happened. He will claim he knew Gregory, the man who died, very well, but that is a lie. He will tell the players to pay a large fine of 1000 gp, because that is how much the life of his friend is worth. He will then say that they don't have to pay the cost, instead they must enter the mines, find the source, and kill it. The players will search and explore the dungeon, the Mines of Glynneath.

Climax

The Dungeon:   The party enters the caves known as the Mines of Glynneath. There are many long hallways supported by thick wooden beams. On the side if the walls every 20 or so feet is a torch in a sconce hammered to the wall. As you follow the path given to you by Mayor Maximillian Francis Waligi, you notice more bodies strewn about the path. A few of them seem to already be decomposing(DC 10 Investigation: You spot small fungi growing from the corpses). As you all continue down the path, it starts to angle downwards and the decent has begune. After 10 or so minutes of walking,(Passed 10 bodies) you have reached an opening in the tunnell, a path that exits the mine's endless reppition.   This cavern isn't like your average cave, instead of seeing walls made of pure stone, you see life clinging to the edges. The torches have ended, but there is still this erie pale blue glow emiting from deeper within. On the ground you spot another body coverd in fungi, similar to the floor, which many strange mushrooms grow. When you enter this new cave, you immideately hear this ear peircing scream that just keeps on going and going, nonstop. Then, with a sudden wooooosh a few mushrooms near your feet exhale these tiny spores. Roll initiative. Players enter combat with 4 Gas Spores.   After the players defeat the gas spores, then the Scrooms will come out with hardshroom weapons. The players will probably not attack the Scrooms, so the Scrooms will lower their weapons and start questioning the players. If the players make themselves seem like Scroom lovers and not Scroom haters, then the Scrooms will tell the players not to come any farther, and to back away into the tunnel. They will then tell the players that it isn't safe for them inside of their scroomtown because they are not one with the scroom.

Falling Action

The players will probably ask how to become one with the Scroom, and the scrooms will tell them how, in the next chapter.

Goals

The first part of this goal is to deliver a message to Henry Ithuior, the ore broker of Glynneath. Later Mayor Maximillian Francis Waligi will force the players to find and destory the source of Gregory's death.
