Initiation rite of the Âdocôdix

Every year on the 14th of Lârisadi (Month of the Leaf in the Brictaelgican calendar) it is customary among the Âdocôdix that male and female Âdocôdix of at least 15 years take part in a solemn initiation ceremony in order to absorb their earth magic and be able to use it later .

Process:

Before the rite can take place, the young Âdocôdix are wrapped in a light, short linen tunic, symbolizing their purity. The Druids close their eyes and ears with a magic spell and lead them deep into the forests to a wide clearing to an unknown place of Brictaelgian earth magic, where they have to spend a day and a night in the wilderness. The druids will remain within reach during the ritual in case any complications arise.

For the ritual, the druid separates the thorns of the Îrdruxûs Tac from the mushroom bark and marinates the mushroom in Brúddá honeydew. The druid then summons the mushroom with a magic formula. The honeydew is absorbed by the fungus and it changes color to a bright turquoise. The mushroom is then halved.

For the ceremony, the ingredients of the mushroom must be absorbed through the skin and lungs, as this is the only way enough earth magic can flow into the bodies of the Âdocôdix without causing life-threatening injuries or even killing them. To do this, the druid cuts one half of the mushroom into thin slices and places them on the hands of the young Âdocôdix. In addition, he drills three thorns into each of the right and left shoulders and into the neck of the votive, which ensures a better flow of earth magic through the body.

The druid chops up the other half of the mushroom and smokes it in a small bowl over a small green fire. The rising vapors must be inhaled by the aspirants in order to better detect the hidden earth magic and connect with it through the innate "earth spike". The Âdocôdix then lie down in a circle around a stele decorated with magical runes and are put into a waking sleep by the druids. The pillar has a large hole in the middle from which small grooves lead to the runes. It is aligned so that the setting sun of the 14th Lârisadi fills the opening with light, which then "flows" over the depressions to the characters. Starting from the signs, the light sinks over the stele into the ground and spreads out under the sleeping place of the Âdocôdix, who can absorb the magic through their earth spike. Through the action of the mushroom, the power of the earth element is distributed throughout the body and stored there.

Afterwards, the Âdocôdix have to find their "own" totem during a dream sleepwalking phase until the sun rises the next day and transform it into a talisman using the earth magic they have acquired. Only when this is achieved do the Âdocôdix receive a nickname and have passed the test.

Ingredients and tools:

Îrdruxûs Tac , the blue thorn stickleback, is a mushroom that grows primarily on trees in the temperate zones of Elaqitan.

Honeydew of the Brúddá , a plant with large green flowers that only grows on the slopes of the Greenlings on Brictaelgis.

Peel and Green-Salt , also from the Greenlings, for smoking the mushroom.

Small druid knife for cutting the mushroom. The hilt of the knife consists of a piece of antler from the Brictaelgian boar, which was additionally decorated with the national gemstone Drûxas and an earth rune. These three components symbolize the strength, humility and knowledge of the Druids.
