Vestreykil

Up North, cut in 3 by the Beius river lies the city-Capital of Vestreykil. Resting at the bottom of a valley, between Mount Kraujas and the Skjold Mountain Range, Vestreykil is as well-guarded as it is ancient. Its defenses are rumored impenetrable, a testament to Menestia’s tactical geniuses. It is made up of 3 pyramidal landmasses, each interconnected by covered alleyways and villas. At the top of these islets are 3 important buildings of Menestian society; the Duneshield Garrison, Menestia’s primary military encampment; the Grand Senate, the political center and house of the Senators; and the House of Creeds, a temple dedicated to the 7 values, or pillars, of Menestian lifestyle. Though Vestreykil may not be a trading hotspot, it is still home to several talented blacksmiths and artisans. On the eastern bank, you may find the Borealis Colosseum, where popular forms of entertainment, gladiators and athletic competitions, are a common sight.

Defences

Vestreykil has often been quoted as being impenetrable. Despite its disadvantageous standing, its extensive defenses, including a 20-feet high wall, multiple mounted ballistas, gated ports and continuous patrols make it a genuine fortress.

Infrastructure

Considering Vestreykil's uncanny location, the city requires a good number of bridges in number to keep traffic somewhat fluid. As such, a total of 21 are spread across the capital, sometimes barely large enough to allow two people to cross it at the same time. Furthermore, the canals dividing the settlement are used as a power source, and many shops or public infrastructures have settled along the riverbanks, which makes for a pretty sight as around 30 watermills run simultaneously throughout the day and night.
