Military action
The Kher Mountain War represents an extended number of battles, skirmishes, and large scale war efforts by the forces of Central to invade into the Kher Mountain territories and assert their control of the Northlands.
The Kher Mountain War started as an expedition from Central forces to find new territory to expand out to and occupy, finding the coast and mountains to be particularly rich with ore and resources they attempted to settle the area unaware this was the territory of one Doresh Sol. Doresh Sol demanded fealty and tribute in exchange for occupation which the settlements refused and were in turn destroyed. Central outraged by the dragon's action would aggressively deploy forces to the area in a show of force and retribution. Under the banner of conquest, with the goal of killing Doresh Sol, a bloody 12 year war against legions of orcs, kobolds, and other natives who had sworn fealty to the dragon ensued. Ultimately the territory proved to be to the advantage of Doresh Sol. Even vastly outnumbering the dragon's forces and possessing better technology, the Central armies victories were small and more often the Central forces were forced into stalemates or retreats when not forced into complete crushing defeats in battles where Doresh Sol chose to participate.
The conflict would only truly be forced to treatise after Doresh Sol would unleash a shocking taste of what he was fully capable of following the destruction one of his favorite tribute towns. Two legions of soldiers were felled in a week and selectively any elite or veterans warriors amongst their ranks were either subjugated or slain causing a dramatic power shift in the dragon's favor as he gained intimate and private knowledge of Central through the defectors. Rather than pressing their luck and engaging in a war of attrition that would ultimately leave Central weaker to attack from other territories they offered apologies to Doresh Sol, reparations and tribute, and a treatise, The Treatise of the Great Red Wyrm.
In the Treatise of the Great Red Wyrm, Central gifted him a title of highlordship and their promised retreat from the Kher Moutains leaving it under his jurisdiction. In exchange Doresh Sol agreed to keep himself to the Northlands, Doresh Sol also agreed to allow for colonization of the Northlands as long as any colonies formed in his direct jurisdiction would pay tribute. This treatise has been upheld to this day and for any newly seated king it is still one of several documents that they are urged to respect.
