The Throat Crushers

The Throat Crushers are a clan of orcs who operated as mercenaries in the Trading Coalition for many years. They were mistrusted, both for their Orcish heritage but also for their less than reputable history. In 6512, the Throat Crushers left the Trading Coalition, eventually swearing fealty to the Great Kingdom of Ndiya-Otongo and building a new settlement, Varok Ghazgur, on the southern continent.
The Throat Crushers are currently led by Kharzug Ironmaw. Other notable members include Largakh Axeteeth and Yagra Stonefist.

Culture

As Orcs, the Throat Crushers respect their history and their traditions. They have a strong belief in a warrior ethos, where the strongest are the natural leaders. They prefer a direct fight but consider a certain amount of underhandedness in their fights to be fair. The Throat Crushers allow half-orcs to join the clan.

History

The Throat Crushers are named after an ancestor, who is said to have crushed the throat of a dragon with his bare hands, killing it.
In 6510, the former leader of the Throat Crushers, Krusk Firemaw, overthrew the merchant city of Acqua Draconis and killed Doge Bergalieri. He declared himself Doge, before he was deposed in a rebellion led by human nobles. The Throat Crushers were run out of the city and banned. The events were recorded and publicized in The Fall of Acqua Draconis, a historical account known for its propaganda content.
In 6512, the Throat Crushers found themselves entangled in the Dragon Heists in Vatalli. While the main Throat Crusher clan sought to return to business as usual after Acqua Draconis, a renegade group became a primary faction in the Heists. The renegade Throat Crushers followed Krusk Firemaw, who was resurrected by demons and who sought to seize the lost treasure. These renegades found themselves in conflict with the Ralakor Guild, a criminal organization, and the resulting gang war attracted official attention. Ultimately, these renegades were defeated by the Heroes of the Heists and a large mercenary force hired by Signore Casalini.
However, the situation forced the remaining Throat Crushers to leave the city. They traveled the world, before ultimately finding themselves on the southern continent, where they offered their services to the Great King Ntimbwe. Instead of a typical mercenary arrangement, the Great King offered the Throat Crushers land on which to build a new Orc settlement in exchange for their fealty. The Throat Crushers agreed, founding the settlement of Varok Ghazgur on the western coast of the southern continent, not far from Port Bandari.
