Tuarugdah Elves (Too-uh-roog-duh)

A distinct race of elves, the Tuarugdah Elves have a close relationship to Tuatha, the god of shadows, mysteries, and forbidden knowledge. Their past is intricately linked to the mysterious country of Bathasatha, where they spent centuries before acting as agents of Tuatha and eventually returning to Durannun. These elves are well known for their devotion to their dark god, their skill at stealth, and their commitment to discovering unspoken facts.   Origins and Early History   Before Tuatha selected them to live in Bathasatha, the dark realm he shares with his wife Basa, the goddess of death, the Tuarugdah Elves were a part of a larger elven society in Durannun. The elves had to adjust to a world where light and shadow operated under distinct laws, thus accepting this invitation to the residence of the gods was both an honor and a challenge. The Tuarugdah Elves spent hundreds of years living in the maze-like depths of Bathasatha, where they learned the mysteries of the shadows. They were changed during their stay in Bathasatha, endowing them with unique talents that distinguished them from other elves.   Appearance and Abilities   The remarkable look of the Tuarugdah Elves is indicative of their fondness for shadows. Their eyes and hair are frequently the same dark color, and their skin is typcially an ashen color. They can blend in perfectly with their surroundings because to their coloring, which is advantageous for people who work in secret. These elves have an amazing capacity to move stealthily and evade notice since they are inherently cunning. They returned from Bathasatha with sharpened senses and an innate understanding of the invisible. They have the ability to discern things that others are unable to see and to sense traces of knowledge that is prohibited.   Culture and Religion   The Tuarugdah Elves are devoted worshippers of Tuatha, honoring him as their patron and guide. Their religious practices focus on the exploration of hidden truths and the acceptance of the shadows' wisdom. Rituals are conducted in dimly lit or entirely dark environments, with the elves using subtle gestures and whispered incantations to communicate with their god.   This elven subspecies places great importance on knowledge, particularly the kind that others consider forbidden or taboo. They believe that understanding the darker aspects of the world leads to greater enlightenment and spiritual growth. While they respect Basa, the goddess of death, their primary devotion is to Tuatha, whose teachings inspire their pursuit of secrets and their role as his agents on Durannun.   Return to Durannun   The return of the Tuarugdah Elves to Durannun was a significant event, marking their transition from the realm of gods to the mortal world. Tuatha sent them back to serve as his eyes and ears, tasked with gathering information and uncovering hidden truths on the continent. This mission has given the Tuarugdah Elves a unique place among the elves of Durannun, feared for their secretive nature.   In Durannun, the Tuarugdah Elves live in secluded enclaves, often in regions where shadows are plentiful. They are highly skilled at infiltrating other societies, using their mastery of stealth to blend in while they gather information for Tuatha. Their role as agents of shadows and secrets makes them invaluable to those seeking knowledge or dealing with hidden threats.
