Sky Fiber

Properties

Material Characteristics

It has a creamy white color and foam-like texture to it. It has a non-rigid consistency similar to bread dough. This allows it to be rolled out to the wanted thickness and then trimmed to the area needed.

Physical & Chemical Properties

This is an incredibly durable and light material. This gives it incredible buoyancy properties as well as a super insulator.

Origin & Source

The core or pith of the Skyreach Sun Flower.

History & Usage

Everyday use

It has two main uses. The first and most common use is for insulation. The second use is to add buoyancy to items.

Industrial Use

Thermal Plating
Environmental Armor
Pyroknit

Refinement

After collection, it is stored in its raw state. When needed massive presses and rollers roll out the material to desired thickness then cut to fit any shape. Leftover material is sent to the recycler.

Byproducts & Sideproducts

Trimmings are recycled by running the remains through a grinder and then a shredder. This material is then mixed with chemicals. The the trimmings turn into a slurry that is extruded into threads.   The threads are either used in various textiles or put into special thresser that slices the threads in to various lengths and causes the the threads to want to curl. This fluff is used as a special insulation.
