Generally found in large solid chunks of a dark crimson hue. This Clay is very brittle and will turn to dust if not careful.

It has many known and unkown abilities to manipulate heat.

Originally found in the Rocking Sea and The Fiery Isles.
Smaller viens have since been found in the Dark Lands and in the Dragon Spine mountains.

Discovery
Everyday use
Whenever extreme temperatures need to be controlled you will probably find Lacrite in it.
Refinement
Ore and loose powder is put into a specially sealed rock crusher to keep the fine dust contained. A low mist is in continuous use. Turning the dust into a slurry, making it manageable.
The slurry is then mixed with various other materials to create different items.

Hazards
If mishandled, the dust can be inhaled into the lungs. At the very minimum, it will cause significant breathing issues, more likely death.
Environmental Impact
If too much of this ore is removed from the The Fiery Isles it could distabalize the island it is mined from.
After extensive mining and geological survays of the Rocking Sea region that the coastlines and The Fiery Isles have huge concentrations of lacrite. The closer to the magma the higher the concentration is. Thanks to The Nightmare Foundation Disaster They realizied that the lacrite is why they isles even exist and why the sea stoped expanding.
Nowdays mining is prohibited from any coastline except in the Duchy of Zustait.

Storage
It is stored in sealed vats and barrels in its slurry form until it needs to be mixed.
Law & Regulation
Due to environmental impacts and its value in the Rocking Sea region, mining is highly regulated. The Mining Guild under supervision from the Chamberlain of Industry, the Military Czar and the Exarch of Commerce sets the rules for claims, regulations and who they can sell it too.
