Kobold
Kobolds are small creatures created by dragons. Called kushoka (lit. "dog(s)") in Draconic, kobolds are servants created from animals or even from inorganic material, shaped into humanoid form with a dragon's transmutation abilities. They are mostly created by chromatic dragons.
Basic Information
Anatomy
While humanoid in both shape and in terms of having a spirit, kobolds look primarily reptilian. Many have large ears and snouts like the animals they share a name with in the draconic language, and most have lizard-like tails. Some have horns. Since kobolds are built from scratch by dragons, the exact details vary. Some traits are distinctive enough to trace back to specific dragon creators, almost like a signature on their work.
Genetics and Reproduction
Dragons usually give kobolds the ability to repopulate, if for no other reason than to reduce the burden of replenishing their expendable workforce.
Growth Rate & Stages
Kobolds are initially created as eggs, whether by a dragon or by two other kobolds. These hatch after about a year, and hatchlings reach adulthood in just a decade's time. In theory, kobolds can live 150 years.
Dietary Needs and Habits
Kobolds are almost entirely carnivorous.
Additional Information
Uses, Products & Exploitation
Like all humanoids, kobolds can be used as a source of spirit filaments. This is illegal.
Additionally, kobolds serve as one of the less dangerous sources of dragon scales. This is also illegal.
Perception and Sensory Capabilities
Kobolds are usually made with decent vision in low-light conditions.
Civilization and Culture
Major Language Groups and Dialects
The main language of Syaodukosh is Syaotsikash, the language of dragons. It's a harsh tongue that requires patience to speak properly.
Interspecies Relations and Assumptions
Dragons create kobolds mostly for the sake of labor. The relationship between a dragon and its workforce varies, but is often tense due to the imbalance of raw power.
Kobolds are most often encountered as extensions of a dragon's will, for good or for ill. They don't have much of a standalone reputation beyond that.
