Taecant (TAH-ay-cant)
God of war, knowledge, and waterfalls
The Bladed Scholar, the Teacher of Warriors, the Great Debater, the Noble Challenger, the Father of Rivers, Keeper of the Flame of Knowledge
Taecant (he/they) is the god of warcraft, wisdom, discipline, debate, strategy, conflict, studiousness, achievements, and waterfalls; he is also the present wielder of the flame of knowledge.
Taecant embodies scenic vistas of mountains and waterfalls, considered often as sacred places for contemplation and introspection by his followers. As a result, many martial colleges or schools of wisdom are built atop crags or overlooking vistas. While Taecant is a god of warfare, he is not a malicious entity, teaching that words weigh as much as any material weapon. Though critics consider Taecant as rigid as the craggy mountains they admire, and stubborn or indifferent in other depictions. In apocryphal tales, Taecant jealously guards the flame of knowledge, unwilling to part with it to its rightful inheritors—the mortals of Drintera.
One of Taecant’s disciples, Delar igo Moc (“the one who speaks of might”) founded the Academy of Sunlit Clouds in Twin Moons Empire teaching the arts of warfare, diplomacy, debate, and philosophy, inviting prospective students to attend open seminars with advanced studies taught by retired veterans, scholars, and diplomats.
