Goblin

The goblins of Drintera have a few differences from their depictions in other fantasy settings. Drinteran goblins are not inherently savage, or evil, or stupid, and are designed to be player characters as well as NPCs. They have a wide variety of cultures, adapted to the circumstances they live in, just like humans. Their faces have quite a bit of variety as well, but do not have oversized mouths or oversized noses.

Goblins, while not strictly nocturnal, prefer to live in dim areas like caverns and deep forests, and are often more active at twilight or at night. As a whole, they are a diminutive people, usually between three and four feet tall, and slight of build. Goblins live in caverns, forests, hills, and swamps across Drintera, and they often have skin tones that match their surroundings, with those who live in deep caverns tending to gray, and forest and swamp dwellers presenting as green or brown. Their hair is often black or brown, and their eyes are usually dark as well. Today, goblins might be found in any clime, in communities located everywhere from the deep wilderness to cosmopolitan cities, as they are a very adaptable people. In Drintera, goblins become adults around 20 years old and can live to be 120 or older.

Goblins tend to be swift and nimble and value teamwork over individual prowess. Smaller than most other sapient creatures, they prioritize cleverness and quick thinking over sheer might, and as a result they have earned a reputation as mischievous tricksters in many parts of the world. Their material culture like clothing and tools most often resembles that of nearby nations, distinguished by the inclusion of nature-inspired imagery in its decoration. Their dexterous fingers produce fine handicrafts that are prized by many other lineages, especially their clothes and leatherwork.
