Session 92

General Summary

All Around Me Are Familiar White Masks

Alhaya and Almawt returned with information about the surrounding area. Alhaya noted there are three floors, but got startled by a "big strong" and felt it best to return to Rani. Almawt did a much longer lap and reported on some white masks and a large U-shaped upper floor blocked by two large doors. Neither of the leader insects saw Declan, Moira, or Ghilani. Rani attempted to sense her missing drones and felt them above her and slightly past where Azrail was being detained, but was unable to sense the swords. Underbrink, however, noted that her swords were here. He was also amenable to Rani's deal: You don't attack me, I won't attack you. It's hard to tell if he has everything he wants here, but he certainly has what he needs.
Moira took a look around her "prison". Two white masks were on "guard", but did glance away every now and then. There was a desk to her right with some levers and a set of canisters to the left. Two machines resembled arcane engines, but modified slightly compared to the one aboard the Diving Board. Drone #367 appeared and did a lap around the room. Unfortunately, they can't get out. So, Annanias, what are your thoughts? Annanias felt oddly connected to the machines – they contain a piece of me. Can you do anything with that? Perhaps overtake them? Annanias may be able to... override them. He suspected, however, that it would "take him out" for a time, so to speak. You will have one chance. Moira decided to hold onto that for a moment.
Rani, Newt, and Azraila worked on their escape plane. Is there a nail under the bed? What's the chamber pot situation? The locusts are able to move and start helping get Newt out of the hog-tied rope situation. Information is also exchanged. Newt DID see Moira and smelled a room of blood. Also, Azrail, does your staff have flower? Alhaya may have found it.
Ghilani managed to bite his lip enough to get a bit of blood going. He felt something from the blood around him, but wasn't manage to snag the connection enough. Attempting to magic missile via blood at the metal encasings on his hands, some of the blood ended up splashing onto the table. The machine whirred to life and Ghilani became acutely aware of 3 heartbeats... including a familiar one. Moira suddenly heard: "Hewwo?". Annanias and Moira both responded to Ghilani. After a bit of a discussion, they are able to sort out that they're near each other. Ghilani's in a blood room and Moira's under watch. The connection, however, does not seem permanent as the machine chokes and sputters... and the connection fades entirely.
Ragnar moved the bed and stared down the guards behind the glass. I do this often to intimidate and to annoy them. Perfect, they won't see me coming then as Declan misty steps to the other side of the glass. he attempted to throw his body across the controls, but was strong armed by the white mask. A few blows are exchanged as sedative is released, but Ragnar begins to clog the pipes. On a second attempt, Declan managed to lower the glass... and open 3 other doors. Ragnar then eviscerated the arm of one of the white masks before downing them entirely. Ragnar seemed a bit irritated – there are not enough levers; I will have to pry my way out of the other two doors or you will have to find the controls. Yeah, I can do that, but can you dress me first, bud?
Moira, meanwhile, resolved to get herself out of the situation. When the guards weren't looking, she felt Anannias extend his connection through the wires and pipes. The two machines crescendoed before sparking... and then the power across the entire floor failed. The blood lab goes dark. Moira was able to remove herself from the table, grabbing the notebook. The two white masks hit something on the desk and perhaps said something. Moira tries to misty step through the glass, but finds she can't. She then runs towards a cold sensation, pressing her hand to the wall... she is pulled through into a completely dark and incredibly cold lab space.
Ghilani reclaimed his vials of blood and triggered the machine again... this time sensing a LOT of heartbeats... including the vaguely familiar heartbeats of Rani, Declan, Newt, Azrail, Underbrink, and Volo. After giving the machine a kick, he grabbed the crystal of his blood and moved out of the room, towards the cold room. Opening the door, he found Moira inside... a crystal on the desk and a body against the wall. Huh. This looks fun.
Declan managed to move a bit down the hallway, passing by the white masks that seemed a bit more concerned with the sound of metal being pried apart. Ducking into a storage alcove, Declan noticed a familiar sword with roses, some of the groups magic items, and a vaguely familiar Greataxe. As he swung the greataxe into the nearby engine, some of the doors nearby seemed to malfunction as the power flickered around him. Ragnar is a bit busy, but is making his way through a small hoard of white masks at the moment. Just keep MOVING.
As the power flickers oddly, Azrail turns himself into a rat, slipping free of his confines. As they clatter to the floor, Rani kicked her chamberpot: EVEN THE POOREST HOMES IN LARK'HAL HAVE BETTER TOILETS! These don't even flush! There's a laugh from down the hall and none of the guards seem to approach to investigate. Azrail slipped into Newt's cell to assist with getting a nail out from the bed. Biting the nail with Newt pulling on his rat body, ti doesn't quite work as Azrail intended, and the druid returns to human form. Rani decides to harm herself enough to swarm-step her way into the hallway, her bindings falling to the ground with a thud as some noise is also made from Newt's cell. A guard then begins to move down the hall with Azrail turning into a rat again just in time to avoid detection. Rani moved invisibly around the cell block as the guard moved down the hall... pausing at Rani's now empty cell. The rat is gone! He then turned around to see Newt (and a rat) coming out of Newt's no longer locked cell.
The speaker system suddenly came to life and the Doctor's void rang out. So it's a game we want to play then? So be it.

Making Our Great Escape, Doctor's Back, But It's Fine He's In A Maze

Ghilani and Moira investigate the cold lab. Moira, on impulse, touches the gem and both she and Ghilani find themselves standing in a vast expanse of rolling galaxies before a darkness overtakes it. A voice begins to speak in that age-old language. While Ghilani is able to piece together a few of the words, the voice shift, with a hint of annoyance, to Elivsh and then to Quori as a figure emerges from darkness beyond:
How curious... Which nebula begot you?   Another piece? Master! How many pieces did you get broken into?!
The entity before them feels otherworldly. They have been called "Meera" if you wish to refer to them as such. They have one mission: serve their Master, the Void, a great Being of Destruction. Ghilani asked if they knew Primus. They do not know that name specifically, but recognize the spawn of one of the Between. Are you in the service of my great Master? What are you doing to reassemble my Master? Ghilanis says that Dread King re-assembly is like a tertiary goal. Moira responds that she's just eating pieces of him. Hm. If you desire my assistance, Master, then you must shove that gem in the corpse's spine. A corpse will be sufficient for now. Ghilani and Moira do just that... and watch as the corpse jerks and rises to life. Ghilani and Moira both feel a dark blackness move up their arms... and "Meera" speaks in their head: You are now apart of my network. 1st subscribers, eyo!
Declan slowly made his way down the hallway, encouraging Ragnar as he seemed to fight internally over control of his own actions. The trio managed to get make their way past the set of guards on the floor, locking the Jaakobah-like variant in a sell at least for a moment. Once up the stairs, Azrail manages to get Plant Growth to go off and ensure they aren't going ANYWHERE with a Wall of Thorns. The trio manage to acquire some of their items. Declan hears a voice in his mind: "Oh, what would you like dumb, stupid idiot boy? An arm or a leg?" Declan says a leg immediately and feels the tendons repair as blood courses through the area. Make sure you thank whoever sent out that massive blood ripple! Her voice fades, but Six's presence lingers.
Ghilani, Moira, and "Meera" have a run-in with the Doctor. Moira fakes accepting the deal. After a series of hip-hopping and teleporting around. Ghilani asks what Meera's got? Anything to help? Well I can't attack The Doctor. He has a bit of my master, but there was another door in my lab. Moira begins making her way that way as Ghilani waits for "Meera" after getting hit by the Doctor's lightning charged whip. "Meera" makes a few attacks... and Ghilani feels more Dextrous and a bit healthier after that. Courtesy of the hive network. Ghilani then dimension doors them. The Doctor, laughing, manages to Dominate Moira. Ghilani, however, says not today bitch and puts the Doctor in a blood maze.
Ragnar seems more resolved and Declan can hear the sounds of flesh tearing faintly as he ascends the stairs, managing to misty step through the door. Before him are two white masks, seemingly unperturbed by the going-ons in the lab. They sit in front of a few levers. Rani, Newt, and Azrail engage some of the white masks and a Shenzi-like creature, seeing a hole up to the top floor in the large room beyond.
When we get out, we are going STRAIGHT to Leon.

Operating Room Notes

Subject: Blue Dragonborn, known as Diavolo   Experiment: #53   Procedure: Void Tethering   Quirks: Reborn, Executioner   Sedative: Required   Results: Partial Success   Notes: Meshwork loose. Complications arose from, I suspect, either (1) association with deity or (2) status as a partial undead soul. Substantial potential exists if complications can be overcome. Uses in the political sphere also exist should guaranteed success and full suppression of will be attained.

Subject: Human, Dr. Cyrus Underbrink   Experiment: #51   Procedure: Void Tethering   Quirks: Prior physical augmentation success   Sedative: Denied – wished to observe   Results: Success   Notes: Meshwork stable, yet volatile. Unique growth potential. Suspect lingering potion after effects are "enticing" the meshwork to begin overriding the host template. May increase future injection success. Monitor for negative side effects.

Void Rot Lab Note

Experimental implant of the Void's gift into the spinal column successful. Further testing required before Meera's next deployment.

Blood Lab Notes

If it is orders from our revered leader, then I cannot do anything but obey. Still, what other power besides that of our illustrious King do we require? The Void offers such a vast expanse through which we may forge the path to perfection... what could a divergence into the forays of blood do us? However, if it means that the stingy woman grants me more funding, I shall ponder this dull experiment, at least until I can prove its futility.

While she may care more for the unique properties of that individual witch... it is what lies beneath that appears vastly more important. I surmise, after initial investigation, that the source of a blood witch's power is not native of our world. By religious theory and my own work, that would imply a Deity from Beyond – akin, yet different to The One and our King. This witch's blood is merely the specific manifestation of the underlying network... more akin to a hive mind. Though, this is merely a hypothesis. Clearly, this being pales in comparison to our King. It is weak. Out King will return strong. Oh, how joyous.

These blasted tests are infuriating. I have long since forgotten what it felt like to start a new line of scientific and arcane inquiry. Decades since I began. Does the crystallized blood serve the same function as the solidified Tokens? If I could ascertain how to replicate the crystal formation... then I could compare. But where do the similarities end? Is a comparison between our King and this inferior being beneficial or fruitless?   Both a pessimistic and optimistic hypothesis. Pessimistic: I suspect that this is a dreadful waste of my time. Optimistically, if both can be used simultaneously... in theory, the potential is unbounded. Yet, do we have the time? I, unlike some, have faith in our King.
