Other Locations Within the Smog
The North Alleyways ("The Slums")
There is no place in the City of Smog where the living conditions can be considered luxurious. There are very few places where they would be considered decent. Yet there is one place in particular where the smog is known to be thickest, the homes more haphazardly constructed, and where bodies are most frequently found amidst piles of ash. The North Alley ways are located at the heart of factory production where the first factories sprung into being and began to spew their foul pollution. The people here can hardly afford food and necessities, much less repairs to their shoddy homes. Despite this, the people sit in the holes in their walls, conversing cross the narrow streets with their neighbor who also conveniently has a hole in their wall from a piece of shrapnel that was expelled from a nearby factory accident. Children run through the street playing, expertly avoiding bits of broken glass or hot metal that has found its way there. Despite the oppressive gray smog, life goes on.
With its quick food and relatively affordable prices, the Tower is hot spot for workers just getting off their shift to gather, grab some food, have a drink, and perhaps dare to whisper and entertain themselves with new gossip. There are multiple food establishments with bars and “railing space” for customers to sit and eat their food, but the most popular are the places serving greasy, cheesy Ah’Shazza.
Rah'Zoga Tower
Wedged between a set of towering “apartments” just beyond the edges of the North Alleyways is an odd looking ramshackle tower. The building looks like someone took 5 to 6 buildings and simply smashed them together in whatever haphazard arrangement they ended up in. Cables connect the roof to the other buildings, primarily to allow rooftop runners to move, but also perhaps to keep the building from leaning and toppling over completely. Ladders, rickety stairs, and rope-pulley systems are scattered around the building, permitting people to move about between the various levels. The people who live in this haphazard tower have converted a portion of their living space to street style food establishments. Often, you can see a persons bed or belongings poking out from around a corner as you sit at a somewhat clean bar top waiting for a piping hot slice of Ah’Shazza. With its quick food and relatively affordable prices, the Tower is hot spot for workers just getting off their shift to gather, grab some food, have a drink, and perhaps dare to whisper and entertain themselves with new gossip.
