Summoner's Mantle
Summoner's mantle is a black liquid with an acrid taste which, when consumed, empowers conjurers whilst protecting them from rival magicians.
Mechanics & Inner Workings
A creature that applies this concoction to their skin is subjected to the following effects:
- Empower necromancy and conjuration spells for 1d4 hrs.
- Reflect magic for 1d4 hrs.
Manufacturing process
Made by incomplete creation of blighting powder from hellebore flowers or lethal paste from hellebore roots.
History
Initially created by accident when an alchemist tried to make blighting powder without completely drying the hellebore petals. The alchemist applied the gloopy concoction to an assassin who was spotted without the aid of the blighting powder, but to their surprise reflected any magical attacks back at the assailant. This resulted in the magician inadvertently killing themselves, whilst the assassin died upon trying to escape.
