Prince's feathers are scarlet flowers commonly used for burial rituals, and are the source of King seeds. It is associated with the dead and is consequently considered a symbol of immortality, as well as being a favoured plant of Gorav and Noira.

Prince's feather grows in warm, sunny fields around the tropics. Its native range includes:

• Dilator, specifically the islands to the East of the mainland
• Ombra

History & Usage

Everyday use

Prince's feathers are favoured as decorative plants among the common folk. It also serves a culinary function. The shoots and stems are used in the cooking of soups and sauces, the young leaves are typically blanched and eaten in salads with olive oil and honey, and the older leaves can be used as a substitute for spinach.
Prince's feather flowers are also dried for use in burial rituals and grave decoration.

Prince's feather is culturally used to commune with the deceased.

Refinement

The entirety of the plant above ground can be used, and is often foraged whole. The grain is then often separated and washed for use, whilst the flowers are cut and dried.

Hazards

Whilst burning Prince's feather can be useful for calming the undead, its pleasant fragrance has also been known to attract more, which can exacerbate the problem.

Distribution

Law & Regulation

In many places it is illegal to cultivate Prince's feather plants. Officially, this is to discourage the Taker cult from performing humanoid sacrifice rituals requiring King seed. However, some suspect that those in power fear the possibility that a talented alchemist could make cheap potions of healing and competitively price out their government-affiliated competitors.
