Bane, the Blackguard

God of Conquest, Domination and Tyranny

Blood-drenched armies of brutal warriors oft crush their foes in the name of Bane, the evil patron of conquest, corruption and tyranny. The Blackguard is a patron to malevolent clerics, paladins, bloodthirsty warriors who seek the thrill of combat, as well as tyrants and slavers using his dogma for the gain of societal status. He teaches the necessity of immense self-discipline, power through domination and the preservation of order no matter how corrupt it may become. The dogma of the Iron Conqueror states that only those truly strong in body and spirit deserve to claim the privileges life has to offer, with righteous conflict, conquest and revenge being signs of a passionate soul. His faithful understand that killing and strife are necessities of maintaining lawful order, that the weak must be subjugated by the strong. To serve his will is to accept the call to conquest, seeking lesser people to break and subjugate.

Depiction

Bane is often depicted as a brutish suit of animated, jagged black armor. Heads dangle from his belt, and the shadows that obscure his helmeted face hold no visible trace of humanity save for two spectral yellow eyes.

Relationships

Bane holds no allies within either of the pantheons, his actions spurring away most of the Divine from his side. Their ire for his domineering ways, toeing the fine line between the Divine and Malign in its sphere,
The Blackguard's greatest enemy is Gruumsh, the Relentless Storm. The two powerful forces clashed at the height of the Cataclysm, Gruumsh seeking vengeance for the enslavement of his giantkin offspring of the orcs.

• Fear is your ally. Conquer your fear and inspire it in your foes.
• Disorder and rebellion are to be punished severely.
• Assert dominance and power over others. Victory is the product of true strength, and conquest is its medium.
