The Draught Aggregation League
The Daught Aggregation League (DAL for short) is an organization that provides and seeks to control the transport of goods throughout and between locations and agencies. It attempts to control the movement of all goods via merchant caravans over land, shippping via water routes, and even between a port and the local destination. It does emplying various means such as schools, intimidation, bribery, contracts, or any other means it deems necessary and proper, though not necesarily legal. On the suface the DAL eschews smugglers and their trade, however a shadow organization exists within the DAL to execute and control even that mode of transport.
The DAL operates a network of schools for training workers to drive teams of horses and sail ships for long or short transport of goods, it provides regular and coordinated shipments along established routes. Individuals or businesses can contract shipment of goods on almost any scale from individual packages to wagonloads and caravans to carry produce or dry goods.
The DAL operates locally to consign and contract said shipments and coordinates via its regional authority to coordinate efficient logistics for longer shipments. It operates public waypoint stations (and private ones for the smuggling trade) along its regular routes to provide the dallies with overnight accomodations and access to maintenance vehicle or animal maintenance, though many services offered at these stations are often subcontracted out to more appropriate and specialized workers, such as smitys, wainwrights, animal handlers, and such relying on good relations with those guilds. On less regular routes, the DAL will coordinate teams, again often from specialist guilds, to provide scouting, protection, and even subsistance for the less travelled and more remote trips.
Horse teams are the primary means used to power the vehicles used for their speed, oxen teams are used fro local deliveries where larger and heavier loads where speed is less essential.
