The Third Battle Military Conflict in Draconis | World Anvil

The Third Battle

Everyone knows having an advantage in a battle is everything, whether that advantage be having secret intel, a new weapon, more men, or better organization. And this battle was all about advantages.

It had begun all because of The Eternal Flame . One of the greatest advantages during war at that time. However, due to paranoia and untrust on both sides, who had the Eternal Flame was hidden from the soldiers, and it seemed that only the highest ranking general knew who had the Eternal Flame.

The Conflict

Prelude

Before this final battle, the war had already lasted for the majoirty of a year. However, coming into this battle no one could really say who had the advantage due to the paranoia that soaked the air.

The thought of spies was first thing people thought of when waking up, and the idea that your fellow soldier was going to stab you in the back was next to normal. The untrust seeped through the ranks and it wasn't long before the paranoia started to pull the men apart.

The Engagement

As the men started to approach the battle lines, the first shot was fired unexpectedly. A massive fireball was launched into the sky. It glittered and sparkled and danced, as if it was trying to outshine the sun.

This was the first time the Eternal Flame had ever been used in battle. It destroyed the entire "enemy" camp. The men did there best to put the fire out, but in the end just let it burn. There was nothing they could do.

On the battlefield, confusion and wrongfully placed distrust spread throughout the victims ranks. The soldiers started turning to each other, and saying their fellow soldiers had known about the "eternal ball of flame" and that they could have stopped it. The soldiers fired upon seemed to have forgotten about the enemy soldiers lining up not a mile away from them. Instead, completely focused on blaming their fellow men.

Outcome

In the end, the side without the Eternal Flame lost. Every single soldier who fought in that battle died. Whether it was because of his fellow soldier or the enemy.

The victorious side lost very few men during the battle, so the general sent word back to his king about the easy victory. The king sent word back telling the general to return home, however once the messenger arrived he found no one.

All he found was a field of scorched bodies.
