Kingshold
Kingshold
The capital city of Thulcat and the second-largest city in the Kingdom, Kingshold has existed as long as Thulcat. The town guard keeps semi-decent order in most districts, and the closer you get to the center of power at the Citadel, the more the Life Guard and army troops make their presence known.
Kingshold includes some of the richest and poorest populations in the Kingdom.
Districts
Smallstreet
The Hobbit section of the city, also called “The Eighth” for “Halfing Quarter” small, low-slung houses and shops, packed close together, with narrow streets and alleys.
South Ward
Low-rent district that lies along the main southern road outside of the City walls. Cheap shops line the main road, with various workers tenements off the various side streets.
Duskgate
Even lower-rent neighborhood that lies along the High Road that enters the City from the North. Cheap weapon shops, terrible-looking taverns and drug dens, and nasty brothels line the main roads, and every side alley looks like you’ll be knifed and stripped of belongings the moment you enter.
Old Ward
The oldest part of the city that still stands. Mostly the city homes of nobles and other old money. Contains the Scarlet Rose, a gentlemen’s club for the city’s rich wizard set, and a small area for gladiator shows and the like, as well as several diplomatic missions from other kingdoms.
East District
Contains the working-class housing for those who work the river trade, and the lower-class river docks where basic materials like food and lumber are off-loaded. Contains the headquarters of the Thieves Guild (rumored) and most of the city’s smugglers, both land- and river-based.
Three Bowls
Prosperous merchant district, and where the richest trading docks on the river are located. The finest luxury items from around the Continent are off-loaded here. Contains several lovely parks, and the City’s tournament grounds, which host jousting events and the like. The well-to-do courtiers and minor nobles who work in the Citadel live here.
Sunrise Ward
Formerly an outlying district like Duskgate and Southward, destroyed in the Nazthi invasion twenty years ago and never rebuilt.
Dawnheath
Better-off than other districts that lie outside the City walls, Dawnheath contains most of the dwarves and elves that live in the city and has several fine shops run by crafters of both races.
Haycliff
New section of the City, just starting to be built.
The Citadel
Home to the royal family and the administration of the Kingdom, where various courtiers and royal officials work. Still very-much a viable fortress, guarded by the elite knightly order, the Life Guard, as well as plenty of soldiers from the Thulcat regular army.
