Drake's Crossing
Standing at the physical center of the Silverspire Empire, Drake's Crossing exists less because of any stragetic resource or defensible position and more for convenience of travel and commerce. East-West and North-South roads had to intersect somewhere and that somewhere was a sensible place for an inn. And then a blacksmith. And a general goods store. And a market. And so it was that the town grew organically to a major population center for the Empire.
The town now serves as the seat of power for its state, but its central location makes it a desirable prize for its neighbors. What is worse the low population density of the rolling farmlands makes levying a significant military force next to impossible. Drake's Crossing's ruling family, House Crosston, has to navigate the turmultuous political waters with extreme caution in order to protect its continued existence.
