Archmage of Cerelea (a.k.a. The Crimson Consort)

While most of her tieflings abandoned her, fleeing to the foothills of Morningold Mountains, some of Cerelea’s favorite creations elected to remain loyal by her side. Chief among them was Zarik Aspirant, her greatest mage and personal paramore. He is the only rider she will deign to bear into battle. But as his virtue name suggests, Zarik has other goals beyond being his mistress’ plaything. He too seeks arcane knowledge to grow his power and influence. There are those who quietly question whether he actually has feelings for Cerelea or simply sees her as a means to his ends. She certainly does not love him so it would be difficult to fault his reciprocate utilitarianism. When he can steal away from her bedside Zarik is a frequent visitor of the Sands of Time Library. His familiarity with its stacks rivals even the most devout Chroniclers save perhaps the Record Keeper himself. Zarik’s end goals for his continual learning are a closely held secret, but it is doubtful that they are altruistic in nature.
