Cassia Ān (a.k.a. Cass)

Born, as far as she knows, in the deserts of West Texas; grew up under the apprenticeship / indenture of a local mechanical engineer to learn a trade and earn money to care for her severely developmentally disabled older sister.
Cassia assumes she and her sister arrived in the US as part of a wave of immigrants from China who were feeling the kaiju attacks, with family that either passed away or could no longer care for her & her older sister; this would have happened when she was young enough that she has no memory of anyone but her sister.
West Texas & the surrounding region became increasingly unstable in her teenage years, so she took the opportunity to break her indenture and join a travelling theatre troupe that needed a mechanic for their vehicles and were willing to look after her sister. They toured through the midwest, panhandle, and great lakes region for nearly a decade; Cassia learned stagecraft along the way, and did freelance engineering to help supplement the troupe's income. She started displaying mild telekinetic powers shortly before joining the troupe, which was another impetus to leave Texas. they always seemed fairly minor and were not out of place among her new cohort, so she did little to nurture them - her days were newly busy and enriching, and she directed her energies elsewhere.
Within the last year, travelling became much more difficult for her sister and her powers started to become more apparent (and unchecked she made the difficult decision to leave the theatre troupe and settle in Pacifica as a refugee, lured by the promise of stability and safety. On being scanned in at the port, was shown to have more significant powers than she thought; received a placement on a mechanic crew for mech suits and large machines, and was later actively recruited by SENTINEL.
She had little interest in being a hero initially, but feels a strong drive to protect and help people-- and the promise of better care for her sister was a powerful motivator.

An itinerant mechanic and theatre tech, recently arrived in Pacifica in search of a more stable life for her and her sister.
