Doskvol

Doskvol is the true heart of the Imperium, a key link in the chain of Leviathan Hunting, the home to many industries, notable individuals and powers that stretch out beyond the lightning barriers that surround it. Much happens within this city. Founded as a coal mine long before the Cataclysm the name originates from a corruption of the Skovs Coal. Over the centuries it has spread out over the many Islands that make up the landscape. Re-enforced by canals and bridges the whole city can be crossed by either water or road without ever needing the other. The old Coal mine, once flooded and left inaccessible has re-opened thanks to the marvels of modern engineering. the Docks bustle with both fishers and Leviathan Hunters heading out for their catch or returning with refined electroplasm. In the great Universities students and professors search for new engineering miracles and philosophical answers to the nature of man and demon. Eeleries and farms provide sustenance and succour to the rich and poor. As Gondoliers and The Cabbies hustle people too and from different districts the daily life is an ever changing cosmopolitan melting pot. As one of the most important cities across the Imperium many different people call it home. Native Akorosi , Skovlander Refugees fleeing the Unity war, Iruvians looking to bolster their power and influence, and mysterious Tycherosi with their own often hidden purpose. Despite the cities development and protection it is still a city haunted by its past and many ghosts, Demons, Vampires and spectres haunt the streets and waterways. These densely packed buildings also provide home to a vast underworld, with criminal organisations and corrupt instruments of the state pressing down on the populous. It is a city of Dreams, a city of power, a city of wealth and a city of ghosts.

    Cataclysm
    Era beginning/end

During the cataclysm, the far northern reaches are spared the worst of the earthquakes and volcanic eruptions that shattered most of the continents to the south. The people of the mining settlement, like almost all of the survivors of the cataclysm, swear eternal fealty to the Immortal Emperor in exchange for his magical protection from the legions of vengeful spirits and other horrors unleashed upon the world. The safeguarded settlements salvage what theyy can from the ruins, and began the long process of re-building.
